Dremmel. They both lay down and hold a paw up, hahaha......they were never like that with the clippers though, they hated it and if given the chance would run away!

With Orson, I have to toss him in the tub with warm water 'ankle' deep and let his nails soak a few minutes before dremmeling........his nails are so thick and tough it's not funny!

In the summer time, when Lucy goes to the dog park for longer periods of time and gets extended evening walks, they tend to wear down. In the winter, when her running around time is shrunk, the groomer does 'em. It's included in the cost of getting her trimmed up.

I usually use the clippers (guillotine style). With my RB Rottie I used to strictly dremel hers because she had thick black nails that the clippers would never go through.

I do like to use the dremel on Jack (who also has black nails) because it makes them shorter, smoother and I don't have to worry about quicking him...but it takes so much longer.

All I have to do at home is look at the drawer the clippers are in and suddenly all of the dogs disappear. But (once caught) they sit nicely for the ordeal.

I don't know why people say clippers leave a sharp edge, because you can clip the nail into a round shape with the clippers. At least, that's what I do. I RARELY ever clip the nail once, I take a lot of time clipping the nail all the way around, taking it down to the area before the quick, on both top and bottom, and keeping the sides from being sharp. The dremel does leave it smoother, but it's not really that much of a noticeable difference. To me, anyway.

Nail clippers.

I only need to cut the declaws on Blaze, Blaze is a pro star at getting them done, Id HATE to have a dog who didnt like it. Working in the grooming field I meet so many dogs with foot issues. Id punch myself if Blaze had the same lol. and soloman is to tiny to wear his down all the way, so I keep clipping them, in 3 weeks he has had his done 5 times lol. Gotta get him used to it.

Clippers. I couldn't tolerate the nail dust from the dremel. I had an asthma attack trying to do Root's nails. Not cool.

I just do clippers and run him on concrete to smooth down the edges. I'd like to get another dremel and do both ways, to wear them back and make them shorter.

Lola gets her nails done by the groomer. Every groomer I have had her to says how wonderful she is to work with. Not really believing it because when I first adopted her I saw her getting her nails clipped one time and she hated it and was fighting the person. The last time she was at the groomers I had gotten their a bit early and they have a window that you can look into the grooming place. Lola was getting her nails trimmed and lifted her leg for the woman to clip her nail. As she was clipping her nails she would place her in different spots so she could get each paw and Lola just stood their in the position that the groomer put her in.

The last groomer I took her to is booked at least 3 weeks in advance so I made her next appointment at 6 weeks when I was picking her up from the groomer. This particular groomer is so busy she does 12 hour days 6 days a week.

Oh wow! I never thought of that, even though I know soaking in water softens people nails. So, does it help significantly, would you say? Toker has very hard nails too and it takes a long time to widdle them down.

Lilah, would a surgical mask help? I don't even notice the nail dust much. But that's no good if it puts you into an asthma attack. Sometimes a little chip will go flying too. I was looking into getting some goggles for the dogs because these little dogs have their heads so close to their feet when I'm Dremeling. I bet the dust and chips really get them. I tried on some *Doggles* at the pet store on Chuli but she hated them. (naturally...she never wore them before) I can see that would take some conditioning. But they were $20.00 or something, so I thought...forget it.

I know Im not coop. But yup it helps alot. with large dogs at work, I normally clip their nails right after the bath SOOO much easier.

Same here. Although, it is difficult with squirmy dogs who hate the clippers. With Juno I can take my sweet time on each nail, and get them cut nice and perfect. But Lucy puts up such a fight that sometimes I barely have enough time to even look at where her quick is at, so each nail just gets one clip and then we move on. Which can leave them sharp, but I don't know, it doesn't bother me. I prefer that over leaving them ungodly long!

Never had to clip any of my dog's nails besides Miley's and she was so small it was easy to do. Lucky me.

Flash Heal for the WOW Gold. That is the most easy and fast way to Buy WOW Gold in the world. We will replay you as soon as possible. The talent still has purpose, but it won't be nearly as strong as it was in Wrath. Strength of Soul WOW Power Leveling this key talent to tank healing will let you put a Power Word: Shield back on your target. I don't expect to see much usage of this talent in 4.0.1, but in Buy Aion Gold Cataclysm it's extremely strong give how much we cast Heal. Divine Aegis Divine Aegis does a tremendous amount of work for a passive talent Aion Leveling, and with mastery and the Blizzard post above mentioning plans to improve it, I'd advise investing in this talent for you.

We take the girls to Petsmart and have their nails clipped and smoothed out there. Abby's nails grow very slowly so she can go a few months in between trims. Misty's nails grow wild, and should be taken in every 2-4 weeks at least but I've had trouble bringing her in lately. Her nails badly need to be done but she refuses to let me clip them myself :(

I clip the excess and THEN dremel to get them really short and rounded, once every week-2 weeks. :) My dogs will sit still for their whole nail trim, no matter who is trimming them, raise each paw for you, and will poke you for a treat afterwards if not provided.

I am also one of those super fortunate people who "does nails" for other people's dogs. I'm known for being good with aggressive/difficult dogs, so I get all of the dogs who think the clippers/dremel are the end of the world!

I recently was told that I had to clip a Pug's nails; no biggie right? Oh my god. She was 10 years old and very unhealthy to begin with (fed Beneful), she was morbidly obese (her name was Chubs), and her nails looked as though they had never once been trimmed. They curled completely under, to the point that she was literally walking on the sides of her feet and had massive callouses, AND her paw pads were falling off. I wanted her owners turned in for cruelty. D:< So, me and another girl set out to do her nails. She couldn't be muzzled, as she was a Pug, and she was trying to rip into me with the few teeth she had. The other girl was doing the worst job ever at holding her still/keeping me from being bitten, so after I had painstakingly done one foot, I told her to do the others while I held her. The first nail she clipped, she quicked severely! It was very very hard not to quick those ridiculous nails. The Pug began thrashing, blood gushed from her nose, and she went limp. I thought she had died. I was running to the Vet with her when she came to... it was the scariest experience ever. I can't believe people let their dogs get like that.

I've had to clip dewclaws that were so long they had wounds on their legs, dozens of times. I think some people don't even realize that their dogs have dewclaws.

Desensitize!!!! It works. I promise you. Even if you would rather take them in to get their nails done, it will make it much easier for the groomers there, AND it will make the experience far less stressful for your dogs.

Both of my girls get clipped. Chloe lets me pick up her feet and do whatever I want with them thanks to the powers of catfood. She used to try to bite every time I lifted up her foot, but after doing a nail at a time while someone else shoved catfood in her face for her to eat non stop she doesn't mind it being done.
Rose as a young whipper snapper kepts her claws worn down, so she had her first nail trim done last year at age eleven. She's good enough if I have someone hold her, elsewise she wiggles and won't hold still. Either way, the nails normally only need to be tipped and not very frequently, so I don't mind.
