My boyfriend left last week to do training for the army reserves. He will be gone for 2 months. Since January he has been gone every other weekend which was fine because by the time I got home friday night from work, I had saturday to do whatever and then sunday I worked and he was home sunday night so it went fast. But now its for two months and its only been a week and I'm alittle lonely. Its mainly at night when I come home from work and theres no one there to talk to. I do know that this is going to be how it is for like as my boyfriend does want to do the army reserves full time so there will be alot of courses for him to go on for weeks at a time and he does want to go off on a tour so Im behind him 100% and will support him even if that means being by myself for weeks at a time but I just wanna know, How do you do it? What do you do to keep yourself busy. I got the two dogs which Ive been spending tons of time with and I do work 2 jobs. At night though it becomes lonely and I still got more weeks to go.

Well, my hubby's active duty, so he's gone anywhere from 2 months to 15 months at a time. Tours to Iraq are running about 12 months right now, and hubby's set to deploy this winter after being gone for 2 months (getting home just in June)
My house is pretty insane to start with, so I don't need to "find" too much to keep myself busy. However, there are clubs for spouses (and some are nice and allow significant others) and though I don't typically suggest them because some can be very irritating, they do have lots of suggestions on things to do. I tend to go to the library, go to the gym, work on projects (like gardening, spring cleaning) or just go hang out with the girls one night a month. It all depends on what you're interested in :)

Work! I haven't done more than a couple weeks apart from my husband lately, but when I'm traveling for business or he's gone with friends, work is happy to absorb 14, 15, 16 hours a day of my time :D

When my husband was working on the west coast (we live in NJ), I spent a lot of time on the internet at night. I also played volleyball one night a week, and was assisting with training classes another night. Plus, our youngest was still home. My secret to being able to sleep was this huge ragdoll my husband had given me for my birthday. I put her on his side of the bed so the bed didn't feel so empty. Plus, because school was out, I was staying up until 2-3 in the morning (I work at an elementary school). Now, the last set of business trips was a little harder because, except for Caleb, I was home alone. Luckily, tho, he was only gone for a night or two each week, instead of the 4-6 when he was out west.

If you don't already let your dogs sleep on the bed, I would start now. :)

I'm not a "pets on the bed" sort of girl, but if I were lonely at night I think that would seriously cheer me up, to have another living thing asleep beside me.

And dogs are pretty quick to learn "daddy's gone, we can sleep on the bed!" and the reverse. :)

I'm terribly sorry, but anything I came up with had a solitary sexual innuendo involved.. ;)

Enjoy it!!!!
I love being able to eat what I want, when I want.
I love being able to go to the bathroom with the door open, fart when I want to and sit and watch TV with a facemask on.
sigh! I am on the verge of killing his insensitive ass but thats just me.

It is tough....my BF travels a lot for work, and if it's for only a day or two, it goes by fast, and before I know it he's back. When he's gone for a week at a time, I'm OK for a few days, and then I start to get lonely/bored! There are some things I like to do that I know he does not enjoy, and I try take advantage of my alone time to do these. And I'll admit it, it's nice to not have to cook for a while and if I want PB&J or cereal for dinner, it's perfectly fine!! :) Also, I have found that I enjoy taking Maya (our dog) to new parks or beaches to play. Usually we both take her, but she's more attached to my BF, so they tend to play more together while I watch. So when he's gone, I like having that time to have some adventures with just Maya and me!

This too! Maya never used to be allowed on the bed, but there was one month where my BF traveled almost the whole month, only coming home for a day to pack and repack. I caved, and let Maya up on the bed....it made it much less lonely!! Now she knows it's a special treat to sleep on the bed when he's gone! :D

Oh I do all this when he's home. LOL. Im not the most lady like.

Duke sleeps in the bed, Hamish doesn't. And I will agree completly he knows when he's allowed to be on the bed and when he's not. He was jumping in bed before my bf was even gone. We have a baby gate at the bottom of the stairs so when he hears it open he knows to get off the bed now before the bf catches him and then we both would be in trouble. lol.

But thanks all for the replies.
