Hi

Some farmer near where I live has springer spaniels (so he says).

I brought a springer spaniel from him. He bread them because his female was getting old and wanted another springer. The male dog belonged to his grandfather and that dog was a hunting dog.

Anyway, as time went on, I have noticed the dog does not look like a springer and to be honest, I am not worried what it is as she's a lovely dog and I could not ask for more. What gets me is, I just do not know what "model" dog she is?. Thats what is playing on my mind. Did the guy get one over on me I wonder?.

She is now 4 months old.

I am going to see how I can post some photo's. When I learn how I will post some and you guys maybe able to tell me what she is.

So far people have said

100% Springer
German Shorthaired Pointer
Springer cross jack russell.

Thanks

James

Really doesn't look like a springer Spaniel to me. Although, the freckles on her nose and legs suggest otherwise :)

Looks to me more like its got Beagle in it or Jack Russel.

She is just over 4 months old. My sister has a 4 month old springer and she's the same size. Just a bit shorter.

Possibly a springer, hound mix? I don't know. I don't think there's enough coat to be pure springer.

Defiantly looks like a pointer puppy to me! The vet I used to work for had about 10 of them and this pup looks a lot like they did when they were puppies. Defiantly a mix, but I can see some pointer in there!

I agree with the beagle, possibly... though at that young of an age it is difficult to tell. My vet wouldn't give me a guess on my dog until she was 9 months old for fear of him not being accurate. People do mean things--we were told ours was boston terrier and chihuahua only to find out that she's probably beagle and german shepard. We love her to death though and it doesn't really matter what breed they are as long as they suit your lifestyle and make you happy. :) (I agree it's nice to know though)

Hi Everyone

Thanks very much for the comments and recomendations.

I feel there is German Shorthaired Pointer in there. I looked up there attidue and she fits to a tea.

I also read that these dogs were breed for hunting and guarding. I also read they would easily kill a cat or fox so this is kinda worrying.

I did take her for a walk last night in the woods and she saw a whole in the ground and went straight for it and down it. I just managed to grab her rear legs to stop her from going all the way in. I took her out, and all she wanted to go was go to the whole.

Now I know her dad is a hunter himself and has won many awards. (Well according to the breader anyway)

Thanks again.

It's something to keep an eye on, but don't worry too much. Plenty of dogs don't have the tendencies of their breed or breeds - my last dog was a terrier/husky mix, two types that are frequently very predatory toward cats and small animals, but she was best friends (they slept together) with a cat and although squirrels were the holy grail, the only times she caught a small animal on the ground (a baby squirrel, a possum playing dead), she didn't hurt them. The possum did get picked up, but somehow that terrier head had a setter's soft mouth, and she didn't even scratch him. So you might have a cat killer, or you might have a pacifist. Until you're pretty sure - until the dog's fully grown and been around enough cats with consistent good behavior - just keep an eye on him, and an eye out for any cats.

I can see english pointer... GSP's are stockier and their colouring is more chocolatey.

Her face has a collie look to it too.

I wouldn't have said GSP... Definately not! I used to walk one..
