seen a fila in real life?

I was just thinking that I never have. I doubt I'm odd though.

Not to my knowledge. My area is more towards the foofy rare breeds, not the big bad working ones.

Sure. Anything in real life. Like I don't think I've even seen one walking on the other side of the street.

I actually have. My uncle has a neighbor who has a male Fila he rescued he is a sweetie if you know him (the dog not the man). I have never seen one anywhere else except online. Anyways he's a big boy hence his name Big Boi lol and can be a bit scary if you are a stranger. But he plays well with my uncles gsd mix and even his little chi.

I don't think I've seen a Fila before. There would be a very, very, very slight chance of someone keeping a Fila around here, seeing as there's hardly any space to keep one.

Yes, I've seen a fila before in Petsmart in Austin. It was a beautiful brindle female, and the lady who had the dog was a fila breeder. She said that this particular female was the only fila she had that was a "Petsmart dog". Her others all had too much ojeriza to bring to a bustling public area. Gorgeous dog!

OH!!!!!( so much excitement) I see one everyday, Brutie.
You don't know what you are missing. These dogs are truly remarkable. You will never know the love of a dog, until you own a Fila. I think the only dog that comes close to a Fila is a Great Dane. So much alike, yet different. Filas, in their estimation are humans in a fur coat. They don't realize they are dogs. The love the dogs bestow upon you is beyond belief. They truly love... Wholeheartedly. They have an understanding that is almost uncanny. Many dogs have a sixth sense, Filia's have a seventh( is that a word?) they know your moods and sense your every move, even before you do it. No, your probably not going to see a Fila on every street corner. They are a rare breed. The U.S. is starting to fall in love with them though. Once you own a Fila, I don't think you will ever go back...I will own another one someday when the time and situation is right. Don't get me wrong, Roxie is awesome and she is the fur-queen of this house, that will remain until she passes away... Hopefully, that won't be for many, many years.

Do you think that other dogs learn how to be more human from watching filas?

Gem, I think I actually know the kennel/breeder you're talking about ... NoDib Kennels? I just worked with a girl who works for that lady.

Truthfully Saje, I don't know...I have been blessed with very smart breeds. Roxie, Brutie, and my GD's, Duke and Sampson. All very smart and loving dogs.
But, I can honestly say, there is something different about a Fila. For one, they believe the universe was created for them, and they believe it revolves around them. Which it seems to ... Brutus is now referred to as your Royal Highness. lol They are just different, I'm not sure how to put it into words. They really are wonderful as puppies, I haven't gotten to the adult stage yet, but I anticipate it being even better than puppy hood. As far as children go, I couldn't recommend a better puppy to have around them. They are remarkably gentle. Brutie and McKinley have such a strong bond. He stays by her side the entire time she is here. She sticks her foot in his mouth and he doesn't bite, he only does a little tickle- nibble. She giggles, and does it again. I can tell you this he is getting very protective of his mommy. When I am alone, he and Roxie stay on guard. It is nice to know your loved.:)
