Ok so I got some advice from a few breeders I know and it is possible to keep them in the same room IF they get along, Some mothers will clean and nurse another's puppies and basically take turns in each box. Some won't so you'll have to find out if one of your girls will be territorial or not. If they're good with it, you can leave them as is. Since your basset will go first, you'll be able to find out before both litters are on the ground if the basset mom with have issues with miss beagle sniffing around her babies.
Good luck!
Good luck!
Bella did look sick, it turns out she was underfed. And surprising news: The owner came to our place yesterday evening. First he called and said: "Is this dog a beagle, about seven months old and pregnant?" We told him to come right over. He came and we told him that the veterinarian said she would be having 5 puppies. He said she was bred by his other beagle mix, Chopper. He had a crate and was ready to take Bella and Bella ran away! She hid in the corner howling and crying. The man said he just got her and she wasn't very social yet. My dad got Bella and handed her to the man who put her in the crate. My mom thought maybe Bella was abused and didn't want her to go to the man, so she said she'll give him a hundred bucks if he'd let us keep Bella. (This reminded me so much of the movie Shiloh!) The man said no, one hundred and fifty, so we paid him and he left.
So I guess we have an extra addition to our family! It was amazing.
