I had my suspicions about this, but my sister confirmed it for me today.
There's a girl in one of my classes who had a chihuahua, and her dad had brought home a siberian husky a few weeks ago. I found out today that the husky came from an abusive situation, and unfortunately, the family wasn't quite equipped to handle such a high energy breed, particularly one with serious issues.
Cali and I actually met up with this husky on a walk, and I was told he lived with a small dog and got along with them well... so I brought Cali over to say hi because the dog seemed very calm and laid back. He ended up almost petrified because of Cali's outgoing personality. He basically just froze so we continued on our way since it was clear that he wasn't comfortable with the interaction.
About a week ago, the girl's chihuahua died... no explanation on Facebook or when they brought home a new chihuahua puppy. I had a feeling that something happened between the husky and the chihuahua, and my sister found out I was right, because her boyfriend is friends with the girl. Basically, the husky was eating from his bowl and the chihuahua decided to sneak in there... and the chihuahua died after being bitten on the head and being thrown across the room. I can't even imagine having witnessed something like that, let alone my own dog... and as horrible as I feel for the chihuahua and his family, I am thankful that Cali didn't spark any sort of aggression because I don't know what I'd do without her.
They ended up getting rid of the husky, which is very understandable, but I hope he went to a single dog home with someone who can work through his issues... I have a feeling this isn't the case though.
