My oldest baby, Lucky, has developed an eye tumor. My parents called to tell me at work this morning that her eye has started bleeding and she's lost her appetite (a very first for this dog, even when she was shot in the face she always had a HUGE appetite). She already had an appointment scheduled for the eye tumor, but I'm going to meet them at the emergency clinic in an hour or so. Does anyone have any experience with this?? We had thought it was benign as most eyelid issues are, but she's not acting right at all and now with the eye bleeding I'm getting really worried....

Sorry you and Lucky are going through this. Eye problems can be very painful and you are doing the right thing opting for ER care. My dog had some eye trouble that took seeing a veterinary ophthalmologist to straighten out. (He is still under her care.) I highly recommend seeing one ASAP for any eye problem that is not being resolved by seeing a general practice vet. (Unfortunately, it can be a long drive for some of us to find one of these specialists and they can be really heavily booked, but usually have some sort of urgent care tier.) The one we are seeing has been very conservative in her treatment as far as not putting my senior dog through anymore dramatic treatment than necessary.

Wishing you a good outcome for Lucky with pain relief soon!

Worries right with you. My Mary had a mole that scratched the surface of her eye. IT was on the inside of her eyelid and hurt her very much. That isn't a tumor tho so I am no help there. I will say that Mary sailed through eyelid surgery when she was 12 if that is any help at all. THey cut a pie shaped wedge out of her eyelid to remove the whole mess and stitched it back together.
