What dog(s) do you really, really want to just go out and get, right now? Photos and links are definitely encouraged.

No hypothetical litters or dream breeds or mixes. Actual, existing, real life dogs that you have found on Petfinder, Craigslist, rescues, through a friend, from breeders, etc. Puppies and baking buns are included, and future litters only count if the breeding has been announced and will definitely happen.. Please refrain from choosing dogs that aren't actually for adoption or sale, unless you have an elaborate and fool proof plan to steal the dog. But if that's the case, you should probably still keep it to yourself :rofl1:

Part 2: what's stopping you from getting the dog right now?

I'm really loving all these threads and the activity, so thought it'd be fun to torture ourselves with the dogs we can't have right now. I have quite a few so I'll post them later today, after my classes.

I would really, really love another Westie right now, but I think it will have to wait another year or two. Because we are getting married in August and that in itself is expensive adding a purebred breeder puppy to that mix just does not add well.

I am hoping to add one at the latest two years. I want to start trying for kids one years after we get married so puppy and kids might be at the same time or at least when I am preggers. We will see though. I really just want one now. But Pan is essentially still very much a puppy and still a lot of work.

First:

Elmo from gpawisconsin.org-

"It's Elmo's World; we just live here. A goofball full of joy and energy, our Elmo is 100% ready to start his life as a retired hound. He's a big, handsome boy and enjoys walks, fresh air and especially new faces because he's beyond interested in making new friends of the human, canine and feline persuasion! He pulls a bit on leash, but a few good turns around the yard and he was ready to walk pleasantly and take in the sights. He'll make a great exercise partner, for sure. Elmo raced as Tennessee Tuxedo. (Find him on Twitter - @FastestTux) He's almost three and a half years old and he's just waiting for a home of his own. Will it be yours?
Adult, Male, Large"

He sounds like a GREAT dog for me.

Buckle (same site)-

"If you're the sort who's strapping in for a wild ride, we wish you well, but our boy Buckle is not the hound for you. Sweet, friendly and curious, Buckle will lovingly lean his weight on your leg and allow you to walk with him into retirement as he experiences all that life as to offer. Not too goofy, not too placid, he's an even-tempered hound who loves people and other pups alike and genuinely appreciated the time and walks our volunteers gave him. A good home, a warm bath and a few good meals will do him wonders and he'll become the handsome boy (and amazing companion!) we know he's destined to be. Buckle raced as Mo's Buckle Up. He's a medium-sized boy and he'll turn five years old this winter. We've checked it out and he also seems cool with sharing a home with a cat. Come meet him soon!
Adult, Male, Large"

Sounds like a good dog who Roxie would get along well with. And gosh is he cute.

What's stopping me? No fence (although we have 1.5 acres) and my parents are one-pet-at-a-time people. Gods do I ever want a Grey though. I am definately a more-than-just-one-pet-at-a-time person too, lol.

I am trying desperately to be patient and wait for the right puppy to add. It's rather difficult when there are so many awesome dogs out there!! Temptation is an awful thing. What's keeping me from getting all the dogs I see?? My sanity.

A female black Labrador. Lucky for me, the breeder I've been drooling over since moving down here doesn't post their litter announcements on the web, or I'd be soooooooooo tempted.

But...their dams. So pretty. And functional. And perfectly sized. And just *drool*. I'll take a clone of this bitch, please and thank you.

Why do I not contact them? Finances. Abrams is still a dumb puppy who needs to grow up a bit. Having a third dog in the house would make things a bit more tight space wise, and with potential Small Human in the planning in the next year or two...don't really know if it's the best time. That, and Michael "technically" gets dibs on the next dog, since Cynder is going to be an old lady soon (she'll be 9 in January) and Abrams was my pick. I also wouldn't enjoy handling three dogs on my own while Michael is deployed, which means one would be getting left out during excursions...and until Cynder is an old fuddy duddy and can't go on excursions...we'll likely stay at two dogs.

Plus Michael would shoot me. There is that.

But he needs to be on a task force. He needs to live a working life that I cannot give him :( Sadness because he's amazing <3

So. Many. Alaskans. Mushers are always moving dogs around, and for some ungodly reason I keep looking at "dogs available" pages.

Can't do, though. Already at my legal limit of dogs and even if I wasn't, I think it would make Pip very unhappy if we added another dog. Also, we're already doing partial gate/rotate and there's no space to add another layer to that if there was any conflict with a new dog.

I know it said no hypothetical litters, but I just found out my Chows' breeder has frozen semen from a deceased dog directly related to my first Chow. This is not a common thing, as I think most of the parties are no longer breeding. Want a dog from that breeding. So badly.

My hope is that someone will use this breeding and I might be able to find a pup from that line when I'm ready for my show Chow. Sigh.

My desires lean towards a Border Collie, but I have never owned one. Why do we do that? My present companion is an English Shepherd, which is close.
