I lurk on a lot of forums. The following comments, made by a BYB earlier today, totally astound me!!
What an @$$ backwards way of thinking!!!! :yikes: :yikes: :yikes:
If the average person can't get a dog from a a responsible breeder, they will get it elsewhere. Fact is that the supply of high quality dogs from a solid proven line is limited, expansive, hard to find and not nearly enough to satisfied the demand. And the fact that many are turned away by overzealous breeders because they seem unworthy doesn't help either. You may be protecting your dogs and your line, but in reality you hurt the breed as a whole.
In a disposable society such as ours, if you want to reduce the dumping, you need to improve the product. dogs are no different. If you really care about your breed, you would crank up production and flood the market with cheap high quality dogs with full breeding rights. That would dilute the crap out there and improve the breed as a whole, which will decrease the shelter population of unwanted dogs.
