Today I found my dog unconcious, in the backyard. She did not respond, or even budge when I picked her up and brought her into the house.. her collar was really tight, but I doubt she was suffocated, because her tounge was not blue (or any abnormal color for that matter) Right now she is in a heavy sleep, as she has been in since I found her.. her whole body is cooler then normal. I dont think she is dehydrated..

She was tied up, so there is no chance that she got hit by a vechle or anything

what is happened to our dog? Thanks

I wouldv'e taken her to a vet the second I saw her, but unfortunatly I can barly afford to pay the bills as it is.. I do not have any money for a vet. I really wish I did, but I can't..

I figured I would do the next best thing and at least try to care for her myself. What is the best thing I can do for her? I really dont want to loose her. that would be really tragic to my girlfriend..

Please what can I do?

Maybe you can arrange something with the vet? Sounds like your dog may die if you don't get her attention fast. If it sounds like I'm trying to scare you, I am. It sounds pretty serious.

OMG.. get your dog to the VET ASAP!! If you REALLy love yoru dog, you shouldn't care how much it will put you into debt!!

i'm a student, I pay for ALl of Riots vettings and I can barely afford groceries.. yet my dog gets the best food available (Fromm). I always make sure that he has things he needs FIRST

If I found him unconcious in my backyard He'd be at the vets before I could think of what to do.

If your dogs body temp is lower then normal, keep her/him around hot water bottles wrapped in blankets. Get their temp elavated asap or you will get possible hypothermia happening.. which is even worse.

Is it possible that she could have been poisoned?

GET Them to the VET ASAP!!

You can work something out with the vet (most likely anyway), but from the sound of it this dog is going to die if not seen by a professional. I'm sorry, but it's the truth.

It could be anything from poison, to a stroke, to a snake bite to an allergic reaction to....who knows what. She needs to see a vet NOW.

If you can, take her temperature. This does mean inserting a thermometer into her rectum (use KY or Vaseline to lubricate). It should be at least 100 degrees, but if her body feels cooler, it's probably lower...if it's anywhere near 98 her body is in shock or is shutting down.

I find it troubling that the first thing you think of is your dog's death upsetting your girlfriend. :( This is a creature's LIFE! She is your companion, when you bought her you made a commitment to her, and it is your responsibility to care for her. You can be charged with cruelty if you do not get her vet attention ASAP. Seriously, taking her to the Vet now will likely be much less costly than a $1000 cruelty fine!

She sounds as though she has either asphyxiated herself, is very dehydrated (at least in Cali, it is waaaay too hot to leave a dog outside all day!), OR she could've eaten something very harmful. At least call a Vet, please! Or call your local ASPCA. If you can't afford to pay a vet save her life, you should not have bought her in the first place. It's harsh, but that is the truth.

No Gonzo, that's really not all that troubling. When you find a dog unconscious, that's probably one of the first things that run through your mind.

And depending on what e-vet is around, some of them require the office visit fee up front before doing ANYTHING to the dog, and that alone can be $80 right off the bat. It's sad, but true. You can still own a dog, but not be ready for an emergency visit. Hell, if that were true, then I shouldn't be around. I can't afford an ER visit for myself.

Most vets will try and work out something with you. Most are pretty understanding. I hope your dog is okay that doesent sound good at all. It sounds like it could have been caused by the heat maybe.

To be compeltely honest no one knows for sure what their money situation is going to be the rest of their lives. So its really not fair to say that at all. I have had my moments when I knew I couldn't afford to pay for my dogs to go to the vet. Of course it was never serious but it didn't mean I don't deserve my dogs. No one knows how money is going to go is my point. How do you know you could always afford your dogs vet bills for the rest of their lives? How would you feel if someone said you shouldn't have bought them in the first place? Pretty bad I would guess.

To the OP:

Please... please, don't let this dog suffer any more. It needs help. Try to work out a payment schedule with your vet. Or, if you honestly cannot afford anything, and you honestly love this dog, sign it over. Just save this poor baby. No animal should have to die like this. Please... This dog needs to see a vet.

Honestly....if I came home and found my dog unconscious, money be damned. My ass would be at the Vet pronto. I'd worry about paying for it later.

Hope by now that poor dog has been to the Vet.

adobostreak ?? Is that you?

I can't believe a sane person would ask such a question, unless just to get a rise.
Use some common sense.
