I love it.
I love that they are all about family. I love their priorities in life.
My mom side of the family (mom's mom & dad...aka my maternal grandparents) were from West Monroe. Vacations in my family consisted of going and staying with my great aunt and uncle in their tiny little house. No air conditioning. An outhouse (I kid you not!). 140 acres of pasture full of cows, a very cranky Brahma Bull named Black Bart, a couple horses, and piles of manure. There was also a fun old barn to play in, chickens to gather eggs from, and a rooster who's goal in life was to shred the skin off your shins. We slept on the floor, usually in the screened-in back porch. We woke up early to homemade biscuits, fresh eggs, and bacon/sausage from whatever pig's time had finally run out. Then us kids were sent outside to play. Lunch was sandwiches, and if you didn't grab one and run back out, you found yourself shelling peas or snapping beans......or plucking feathers from your soon-to-be fried chicken supper.
As it is, they lived just a few miles from Mr. Phil and Mrs. Kay. So maybe that's an added reason why I love the show.
With all the cruelty and hatred and intolerance in the world, I just seem unable to find fault with a show that showcases a family that loves one another, has worked hard to build a booming business out of hard work and sacrifice, is kind to others, engages in lots of charitable work and activities...I could go on. For me, I think we have plenty of shows about murdering people, sexually abusing/assaulting children, and being hateful to others. I enjoy the laid back ease of watching Duck Dynasty and Swamp People.
