Don't be hard on Homeless. He makes valid points and has to deal with irresponsible pet owners everyday. If we all thought like he did almost all pets would have good homes. I know when I'm at the shelter (several times every week) I see all sorts of animals whose owners make me want to scream. I've walked Skeena - named after the Skeena river where he was rescued after his owners through him in. And I play with the shy cat Oliver who came neutered (very rare here) and was given up because he 'didn't get along with the other cats.' There was a beautiful siameseX that was given up because their female cat got pregant and he didn't like the kittens.
Tuesday, I took Jezy out, a border collieX who cowers when anyone goes in her pen but once is outside is extremely energetic and happy. this makes me very angry at people and I don't deal with it as much as Homeless.
I'm glad you aren't going to breed your pits now. Altering them and having them as your own babies will make them very happy after the life they've led. I'm sure that's all they've ever wanted.
Do you see many puppies at the greyhound rescue where you volunteer? They must be cute. I've never seen greyhound puppies. There must be a lot of racing where you are. Not here. But back at my parents place my sister worked at the concession stand at the dog races when she was quite young. She always felt bad for them. I don't think she stayed there very long.
