Dock Dogs

For those of you involved in the sport, how did you go about actually getting involved? Starting your dog in the sport, finding clubs, where/how you practice, etc./etc.

I think it would be fun to do with Abrams (I think he'd enjoy himself - he loves water, he loves retrieving, and when we walk on piers/bridges he tries to jump off of them to get to the water ), but once again, I am having NO luck finding ANYTHING near me. This town sucks.

I found a marina with docks that I could use after hours - that helped get the dogs confident about jumping before an event. I locate events via the dockdogs calendar generally.
