Duke has a good vocab of various sounds he makes during the day. We start the day off with his morning yawn which sounds like an elk call.

Throughout the day if Duke wants to play while I'm in the middle of something he will run over with his squeeky toy and begin squeeking it like mad at me. If that fails then he will sit lie down and let out a low moan that sounds similar to a sigh ( of course I pick up the toy and throw it for him the second he stops bugging me).

Then today I heard Duke give off a new sound which I have never heard before. He's been house bound all week with only 2, 20 mins a walks a day as he just went in for his neuter last teusday. As such he's been well rather insane and has been extra destructive. So today he jumped up on the couch while I was working on an english assignment and looked me straght in the face and let off a deep howl/sigh/grunt and nipped at the air in front of me and then feel asleep on me:confused:.

Anyhow just curious if anyone else has a talker on their hands

I had a dog who talked. Usually around dinner time. :D She was usually a very quiet dog. She didn't bark at anything except maybe, maybe once or twice if a squirrel ran up a tree in front of her. Other than that, nada. But sometimes during dinner she would stand there looking at us and say, "Rah rah roooohr" or "rum rum rrummmm." If you said something back to her like, "Oh yes?" she would make another weird noise at you. Sometimes she'd play-bow and make an extra weird sound, combined with a yawn, like "woah wraw EEEEE ooooo!" Or, on one occasion . . . "ohhhh reeee OHHHH!" (Yes . . . oreo. We laughed so hard.)

I WISH we'd made a video tape of it. It was hilarious!

haha. Benji just barks a lot. it's so irritating.

Milo does a lot of "ARROOOO"ing. He also tries to say "out". It comes out like "AOWWWT" And he does this weird like, screaming thing in his throat. It sounds like it would destroy a humans vocal chords if a human attempted it.

My golden boy talks all the time. It's so cute. After a particularly good nap he will yawn, and howl at the same time...hehe

Ollie really only " talks " with his eyes . I have had many Golden talkers though !!! I think EliN's Eli ( RIP) took the cake though .... He would form words with his mouth !!! Her Hunter just verbalizes !!

Definitely. :D
Millie has a type of grunt/rumble I don't know how to describe. People who don't know her think she is growling sometimes, but I know for sure she isn't. It's a cute sound that she makes when she's tired and she doesn't want to get up and Lucy's being a pest to her or when she's stretching.
Lucy makes "AROOOOOO"s and grunts and pounces and jumps side to side in a play bow position when she's really excited and is trying to get a person or dog to play with her.

:D

Their eyes and hearts say so much more, though. :)

I live with three talkers. Bimmer has a whole dog vocabulary, then the wolf vocabulary. He's a BIG talker, lol! The grrrls make some very strange noises; Kharma has a purr when she's contented, Shiva has a weird complaint when she thinks it's her turn to go in the car, and they both sound like Chewbacca on occasions. After that it gets weirder.

Oh jeez yes lol. She has the weirdest vocabulary of howl-y groan-y grunts that are impossible to describe. I'll have to video it and stick it on youtube sometime lol. She loves to describe her mood with her voice :D

Just get the flashlight out.play with it for about a minute then put it on a shelf.//there will be talking for about an hour..//her pleading for us to get it down. Also if you put it on the floor without turning it on she will plead in frustration.. Otherwise it's her gentle eyes that talk.

Oh gosh yes :p It's so funny, it's like I "know" what Lizzie is saying to me, just from the expression in her eyes and what her body is doing. I know I am weird :p

Jager's not a big talker. Only when there's something to say. "Mooooom! i wanted some of that piiiiiiizza you just finished!" (one quick sharp bark) or "Hey you get outta my yard! This is my yard not your yard! go away you... you... cat!" (arouf arouf arouf!) or "Um... is anyone around? can you hear me? i'm all alone. and i'm bored. and i'm... alone... hello?" (whining combined with barking, usually when left in his crate for a little while)

Tango loves to talk. She grumbles, she moans, she does her "aroo roo roooooo" thing, etc. constantly. She doesn't even sleep quietly..lol. She's the most vocal dog I've ever been around. She makes noises that I can't even begin to explain. I love it - it's one of my favourite things about her.

The others are very quiet.

LOL. I love the descriptions! Jose` is my talker. He can go from a growly, ooooooo ooooooo, up and down the chromatic scale to a woof and a lower pitched warble sound. He sticks his rear up in the air and looks at me very intently while he's doing all this, maybe a little pounce here and there. Sometimes he brings a toy and drops it for me and goes through his repertoire. It's too cute. He's so expressive with his whole body, face, noises....just a lot of character in that boy. He doesn't do it a whole lot, but I'm trying to get it on cue. When he does this, I tell him, "talk to me, talk to me." And make a big fuss.

My other dogs aren't so vocal that way. But they talk with their bodies and facial expressions.

Well I had never thought of it as talking LOL but Yes Minnie does some amazingly big sighs and protesting moans when I get her to lie on her bed and she wants to do anything but. The kind of "Aw but mum, not fair" kind of moan. If I ask her if she wants her tea and when I mention the word walk, she often gives one little happy bark along with a little bounce in the air. She barks and gives a low growl if anyone goes next door and she has little play growls to sometimes.

Yes, they do, all the times. And I understand them fine.

At the end of everyday, my three take turn to have a one-on-one time with me, when we talk to each other about our day.. It's the best time of the day for both of us that we all look forward to.
