Maggiemay and Tucker do! Tucker actually never used to even bark when he was a young pup let alone howl. But Disney taught him how fun barking can be  . Then Maggiemay taught him how much more fun howling can be. And honestly I prefer the howling lol.

Maggiemay has howled since the day we got her. She only howls when I leave her at night or leave her at any point. Tucker has learned to join in and a ritual has started. Every night at 10-10:30pm depending on the night Maggie will strike up the nightly howl session. First she starts off like a car alarm low to high low to high lol. Then once Tucker starts in its turns into a completely in sync thing. Sounding like the two little hound dogs they are ;) . This then happens again at about 6:30am sometimes earlier  . Around then its not so cute cause they are waking me up before my alarm clock!

So do any of your dogs howl?

Lucas hasn't ever barked, he only howls. It's that Arwooo-wooo-woooo kind of deal :p And still, he doesn't howl excessively, only when needed.......like when he can hear an ambulance ;)

No, mine never howl. I wish they would, I think it's adorable.

Buddy used to howl, I think it was the wolf in him. It wasn't the typical cute "rooo-woo-woo" that Northern breeds do. It was a very drawn-out, lonely, eerie, chilling sound and he only did it when he was outside at night. If wolves or coyotes would howl in the distance, so would Buddy.

I've heard Sawyer howl a couple of times, but it was right when I had first gotten him and he was learning how to just chill out at work while waiting for me to finish my shift. Now he just "talks".

Mine only howl if there's a really irritating noise. The last time the fire alarm in the house went off (I don't even know why it did..), you would've thought I had a pack of wolves living with me. I love howling. But, as I said, they only do that when a noise is irritating them. Tango does her little 'Awoo woo wooo' things daily, and some people consider that howling, but I don't. I just call it 'talking'.

Twice a day, everyday! Always about 15 minutes after feeding, they all chime in for a sing-a-long!

oakley never used to howl...then he did one day, while being impatient for a walk...he got so much attention from that, cause it was the CUTEST thing ever...it was such a wussy howl.

now he does it A LOT more...mainly whenever he is waiting on us to give him a walk :p

EDIT: oakley's howling is the "awoo-woo-woo" kind...i just saw someone say they didnt consider that howling, so i thought id clear that up :)

Midnite is the only one of our 3 who howls, and she only does it when the siren at the fire station goes off. The last year or so she hasn't done it as much, as her hearing is going (she's almost 13) and I guess it doesn't give her the same vibration it used to when she was younger.

My guys do both the arwoooowoowoowo (talking) and the wolf-like true arwooOOOOOOOOOoooooooo (howl). They talk a lot more than they howl though. They only howl if another dog/wolf/wild dog/coyote howls first or OC does it sometimes when I''m gone for an extended amount of time.

At the kennel though, every now and then throughout the day but more at night the whole kennel picks up a chorus of howling as if a conductor started them and they will carry on for a minute or two then as quickly as they started they stop and their voices just die off in the wind. It''s so eerie and cool!

The rotts used to join in howling with all the dogs around us. It used to annoy me but now that Rosie's gone I miss it. :(
My current dogs, don't howl, at least that I've heard, they just have a "regular" bark.

My Bronki did and it was melodious! IT started deep down in his chest at a bass if there ever was one and rose to an alto. He payed omage to the great DOg in the sky everytime the storm sirens went off on Wednesday. I loved it, and i can still hear it in my mind. Jim said i ought to put that dog in opera.

Zeus only howls in his sleep. Seriously. It's a very loud, long wolf howl. Voodoo doesn't howl at all.

Everyone howls when the coyotes start up (unless the pack is pretty close, then the boys go on the offensive and are at the pasture fence, barking and growling.)

When Emily and Patch were still alive, I'd get a chorus every morning at 4am (when we'd go out to feed the horses). Patch considered herself the official choirmistress and would start everyone on a singalong. I'm sure the neighbors appreciated her efforts. Lol! I was always reminded of that old song, 'Daddy Sang Bass', ('cept I'd change it to "Emily sang bass, Holly sang tenor and all the other doggies just jumped right in." Lol!)

Emily also used to 'wroo-rooooo' at me when I got home from work or anytime she wanted to get my attention, maybe there was a Malamute lurking in her background somewhere.

When there's a fire truck... or the huskies down the road start...

My Mom said that Missy started howling when I was away (in Florida for a week)

I prefer the howling as well. It's soo funny when Maddie howls (Missy taught her) because she sort of half-snorts when she takes a breath to keep howling :lol-sign:
