So, we go to this really cool Dog Beach/Park about once every few weeks.
George has SO much fun, this means he gets wet and sandy... really sandy, thus he gets a bath as when we get home.

Today it wasn't raining, windy and cold yes, so we went. It was high tide so the beach was a bit smaller, but no one minded. There were lots of other dogs there as well. Lots of Goldens, as usual, a lab or two, a Husky, some beagles, a Vizula, a Chesapeake Bay Retriever (old boy), and various mixes.

Typically George prefers to play with dogs his size or slightly (slightly) smaller or larger then he. He isn't a fast runner so he prefers to rough-house and wrestle. He was playing with a dainty, but taller, redish mix of a sorts. She was pretty submissive but love to rough-house with George. She was also playing in the water with her humans and other dogs as well.

The Husky comes once in a while, he is usually pretty rough and gets carried away and doesn't always listen to his human. (she brings toys and such to distract him from getting too rough, but it doesn't work, the squeeky toy is the worse because all the other dogs want to play with it as well so instead of her dog coming to her, all the dogs come to her and it defeats the purpose)... Anyway, this Husky comes up to play with the dainty red girl. She rolls onto her back and kinda wants to play, but isnt' about to get that rough. We exected George to do the normal, come over to us and sit down, and then find someone else to play with, more his size.

Nope, George goes over there and gets between the Husky and the Dainty girl and proceeds to first 'tell' the husky to calm down, then when that doesn't really work, he enticed the husky to leave the dainty girl alone by playing with the Husky. They had such a great time too... There were even times when George is sitting, laying, on the Husky... in the dominant position. The continued to play for a good 45 minutes. My DH and were AMAZED! George doesn't typically like to play with larger dogs, they kinda scare him. So this is something new, a good new too.

We were so proud of our boy defending the dainty girl, she was okay and hadn't made any 'i'm hurt, leave me alone' sounds, but still.

We were at the park for about 1.5 hours. He is SO tired. He's been sleeping good since we got home.

I just wanted to share our day at the dog beach.
