Poor ol' Gus has cut his leg! It's half way between the pad and the hock on one of his back legs, It's not still bleeding but he is limping quite badly and not putting much weight on it! I have sprayed him with some antiseptic spray! It looks like a small puncture wound?!! Do you think he will be ok? Do you think he needs to go to the vets? I worry!!!! :( I would imagine that it is very sore there, as it's not very fleshy! Help! Please tell me that my baby will be ok!

I'm not a dog expert, but if it looks serious, I think a trip to the vets would be in order. How did it happen? Don't think you're the only paranoid one around here.lol. Last night, some evil crickets attatched themselves to peanuts butt whilst she was doing her business. I saw that she kept stopping and biting the area, but I didnt notice it until we were inside. Well, we ran outside and i started brushing them off, all the while thinking "What the heck is going on here?" I was scared they laid eggs on her or something, but shes ok today. Oh yeah, give Gus a hug for me! I hope he heals soon!

I think that you are a good judge of wounds Louie. You've handled a lot of animals and if you think he'll be ok than go with your instincts. I trust you. Just keep it clean and watch it.

Any chance it could be a snakebite? I don't know what you've got around there in the way of snakes, but a puncture wound that's tender and sore always makes me wonder . . .

Do you know what he cut it on? Hopefully it wasn't rusty. I don't know if dogs have to have tetanus shots like we do for rusty things????

Poor Gus hope it get's better soon.

Nope definatley not a snake bite! *Phew* it is like a little slice, simular to when you have a paper cut! Oooh how I hate paper cuts! *Shudders* I sprayed it with some antiseptic spray that I have which covers all bases, it's for dogs, cats and horses!! Yay! He's still limping but I think he's acting a little melodramatically!! ;) I took him round to my neighbours for a second opinion and he got so excited while he was there that the limp magically disappeared!! He looked like he was dieing in my house, so now my neighbours think i'm stupid, and I probably am for letting him worry me like he has! Gerard had a good look at his cut and said that it was nothing, which is what I thought, but you work yourself up over it don't you and what with the dreadful limp he had! I was sure that amputation was the only way to go!! :D
