For those of you commenting on Shawn's photos of the sheep "ducking" have you ever herded with a dog? Seriously? Shawn works with the most respected herding trainer in BC. Instead she is getting comments from some arm chair critics who have no idea what they are talking about? :lol-sign:
FWIW I was confused and unable to keep up with your explanation of German / Australian C/Koolie as well.
I'd like to know:
a.) When the split happened
b.) How the two were separated and what physical differences there are (if any)
c.) If C/Koolies are still outcrossed with other breeds (i.e Kelpie, BC, Aussie)
Shawn's dogs don't look all the same. They are not cookie cutter dogs. She has brought in several different lines from several different kennels. You are comparing her program to the K/Coolies represented here... from what my research indicated L & S dogs originated from a kennel that does heavy merle to merle and heavy inbreeding and line breeding. With that kind of program I would hope the physical characteristics would be much more fixed!
Here are my favorite C/Koolies
Not merle!
Want to guess what kennel they are from? Anyone?
