I thought this would be fun :)

If you had to choose a dog from each group, which would it be? I'm going to use AKC groups, but you don't have to choose AKC dogs. Just put where you think it would be most fitting.

Sporting: Labrador. They are my favorite breed of dog.

Hound: I've always loved greyhounds. Hopefully I'll be adopting one of these in the not-so-distant future.

Herding: Hm...tie between Australian Cattle Dog and Australian Shepherd. My mom's friend has one of each, and they are AMAZING dogs. They herd her horses with no training whatsoever! What's even more amazing, is the aussie is a rescue, and he is one of the best cattle dogs I've ever seen!

Toy: Not my favorite group, but I'd have to say Papillion. They seem less "fragile" than other toys.

Terrier: Pitties, by far. I will have many, many of these.

Non-Sporting: Dalmatian. After having Maggie, even though she is only a mix of one, she has a distinct dalmatian personality and I've fallen in love.

Working: Once again a tie, this time between Doberman and Great Dane. Since I like really active dogs, a Doberman would probably be best for me. I can definitely see me owning one of these one day.

Sporting: Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever
Hound: Ibizan Hound or Longhaired Whippet (whippet is probably more reasonable for my lifestyle but dang beezers are gorgeous!)
Herding: Border Collie but I'd take almost any herding breed.
Non-Sporting: Not my favorite group but probably a Tibetan Spaniel.
Terrier: APBT
Working: Doberman probably
Toy: Papillon of course. No contest there.

Sporting: Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever. They're the only sporting breed I'd ever own.

Hound: Not really a hound person, but I like Rhodesian Ridgebacks and LH Whippets.

Herding: Belgian Shepherd (Groenendael or Tervuren)

Toy: Not really a toy person, but I like Papillons.

Terrier: Really, really not a terrier person. I'd never own one. JRTs are cute to look at though.

Non-Sporting: Dalmatian, definitely. I love them.

Working: Doberman Pinscher... can't imagine life without one.

Sporting- Vizsla (sporting is my least fav group! but vizslas seem so cat like and aristocratic! I just dont do happy go lucky hyper bigger type dogs)

Hound- Pharaoh Hound (this was my first choice before getting shelties, but i ended up with shelties because pharaoh hounds cost an arm and a leg! and they are not good for first time dog owners)

Herding- Border collies (need I say more!? they are so awesome and the perfect fit for my active country life style!)

Toy- Brussels Griffion (they are TOO FREAKIN CUTE!)

Terrier- Westie (i have never met a westie that I didnt think was awesome. another great fit for me)

Non sporting- Stand. poodle (Smart, athletic, and i could really do some neat grooming on him/her!)

Working- Samoyed (They are sweet hearts)

Sporting: Wirehaired Pointing Griffon (hubby says no)

Hound: Scottish Deerhound (but wouldn't nec. own it)

Herding: Pembroke Welsh Corgi

Toy: Affenpinscher

Terrier: AmStaff or Bull Terrier

Non-Sporting: Bulldog or Boston (maybe sooner rather than later)

Working:Of course THE BOXER!

Miscellaneous:Cane Corso (LOVE this breed)

I have to say the groups that i have a hard time choosing anything out of are hound and herding...they just don't fit me and my house...but if i had to pick i think those ones fit the best!

Sporting:
GSPs are gorgeous.

Hound:
Tough one here. Not huge on hounds. Bassets are adorable.

Herding:
GSD.

Toy:
Chihuahua

Terrier:
APBT. I guess it would be Am Staff if your talking AKC.

Non-Sporting:
Chow chow. Black smooth coat would be nice.

Working:
Rottweiler. My favorite group. Bull mastiff would be a second.

Sporting- I'd get a Spinone, really like a coonhound with Wire hair.
Hound- Treeing Walker Coonhound-Not AKC, but you couldn't ask for a better dog than Uncle Fred.
Herding- Tough. I am not a herding breed kind of person. Probably a Cardigan Welsh Corgi.
Non-Sporting- Either a Standard Poodle or a Shiba Inu, tough choice.
Terrier- I have had many Scotties, and loved them all. A repeat would be great.
Working- Giant Schnauzer, though the karelian Bear dog is tempting.
Toy- Papillon

notice those who do NOT name their breed LOL
Yeah... shelties are great but honestly aren't the best fit for me nowadays. I miss having them a lot though. Border collies just fit me much better.
