I think we should have a chazhound "election". To run for "chazhounds biggest dog lover member" Tell me if you would like to run for it...
PM me. Tell me if you think this is a bad idea and I'll delete this thread!

I think for the most part, our members are good winners and good sports when they don't win.

As long as this "election" isn't full of snide comments and mud slinging (like most elections and parts of the chazzie awards) then it could be fun and you might have some willing participants :)

Do what you want , but I think it would be hard to nominate and vote . Could be the ones with the most dogs , someone who spends hours volunteering , Those who rescue , those who donate money etc etc . We may have a new member whom we don't know very well and is more deserving than we who have been here for years . Set what the guide lines would be ... then let's decide . All of us are dog lovers .

Fill this out if you would like to be the biggest dog lover for chazhound. PM it to me

How many hours a week do you spend voluntering at shelters/therepy?
How many dogs do you own?
What is your training method?
How many of you dogs are rescued?
Why do you think you should win this award?
Any additional info you would llike us to know?

That could just be "person who has most time in their lives to dedicate to dogs" rather than biggest dog lover.

Which is different I think.

I mean, you can do whatever you want... but I think it is a bit redundant to have a contest for the biggest dog lover here.

It doesn't matter how much time you put in with volunteering, how many dogs you have rescued, or how many dogs you own. It all depends on your schedule... how much time you have. Someone who has a tight schedule and only puts in 1 hour a week to volunteer can be as much of a dog lover as someone who puts in 5 hours a week. I guess I just don't get it.

95% of people here use positive reinforcement as a training method anyway.

I agree with Jules 100%.

How can you determine how much someone loves dogs by things like how many they have? maybe they live in a small apartment or somewhere that they're not allowed a dog. That doesn't mean they don't love dogs. I mean, I had to sell my horse bc I couldn't afford to pay board and still have time off to go riding. I still ride every weekend(I actually get to ride him too, bc I'm very close to the person I sold him too! :) )! I also read TONS of horse literature, I have horse "things" all over. But since I don't own one, and I don't volunteer at a horse rescues, does that mean that I'm not a horse lover?

You're on a forum that exists bc we ALL love dogs. Whose to say who loves them the most?

No, sorry it's me. If I had the room/time/money, I would start my own rescue on a 100+ acres and just be surounded by hundreds of dogs 24/7! LOL.

I agree with Jules too . Re-title . I am down to one dog , don't volunteer anymore , don't train anymore etc etc . Thirty years ago it was a whole different story .

It's a good idea for some and a bad idea for some. No matter how you do this... how you word it... what criteria you use to determine.... you aren't going to please everyone and there will always be someone who doesn't like it.
