Can your dogs easily sit in close proximity with chews (bully sticks, antlers, rawhide, etc) and are totally okay with it, or do you have to be more vigilant?
As Jackson's gotten older, he's gotten worse with this around other dogs. He's never once growled at a human for getting close to him while he's chewing something of importance, but other dogs best not be. He's okay if he's in the same room with another dog who is not paying attention to him (i.e. laying on the couch, not looking at him or whining, etc) but if a dog begins to walk towards him while he is chewing something, he will get extremely snarky and may even start a fight.
When I'm at my dads house, we never let the 3 dogs have chews around each other because my dads JRT mix is very possessive of chews as well. Her and Jackson have gotten into a few times, their personalities don't mesh, because she is always a straight up b*tch and Jax just won't put up with it so he fights back.
But I was surprised that even my moms new 10 week old pup who got close to him today while chewing was about to get it. He used to be very tolerant of pups.
No more chews until the other pup goes upstairs to my moms room for the night from now on....
Anywho - how are your dogs?
I always get envious of people who just have all their dogs chilling next to each other chewing on bones and not having to be hypervigilant lol.
