I don't think there really needs to be 22 pages of threads that are just asking people to come into chat.

Do a search in just the fire hydrant for just thread titles and only the word chat, there really are 22 pages.

Can the just be one single thread for asking people to come to chat instead of the daily ones?

What do you mean? Like a sticky "come to chat" ?

For people like me, who does the New Post click it wouldn't really matter. Doesn't bother me either.

See?

2 whole seconds to scroll past it, easy as pie, eh?

Even if they made a central "Come to Chat" thread, I'd not use it.

I wouldn't use it easier.

Harmless to just post a thread asking for others to come to chat. It's not flooding the screen or anything...

I think a sticky would defeat the purpose...

The idea of a "come to chat" thread is a reminder, a notification if you will, that someone is in chat and would like others to join them. A sticky would often go unnoticed.

Or it would be complained about later when someone says there are too many stickies....

and since the fire hydrant was moved and we just have to scroll to the bottom then the chat threads can be scrolled past also...if your not interested in reading them

Geeze, no need to tear my head off guys, you answered more than one question for me. lol

It tells you when someone is in the chat room all the time, on any forum page.

I was looking at from more of a server standpoint, there are 23 threads per page times 22 pages= 506 threads on just ONE thing. that's just more stuff the server has to store = more space the server needs.

I'm not angry, I just think that there doesn't have to be a central thread for everything...

Plus, Jess is right, it would get stickied, only to get moved months later because no one used it.

On another forum They have a chat thread. Its not a stickie tho...

You just have to subscribe to it....also it does get used enough that its always in the new posts catagory.

Either way is not a bad idea.

I worry about the server space on any site that I like, I had to shut my website down last week due to not enough Hard Drive space. 120GB was not enough for even my little site that I had.

But still 22 pages of "I'm lonely so come to chat" is too much, it's like having someone post daily about the same problem with their dog, gets old after awhile.
