How are Maddie and Carly getting on? Has your Mom cooled her jets about another dog?
I'd like to say that Maddie
tolerates Carly. That's the best word I can think of. I don't get that feeling that she loves her or would miss her if she was gone, but they get along great. Maddie is teaching her well.
On the flip side Carly is totally obsessed with Maddie. Loves her to death, follows her everywhere, has to sleep with her. I think these actions are making Maddie merely tolerate her.
>>> Well, this is what I thought, but I guess I was wrong. My old colledge professor called me last Monday and asked me if I could dog sit her dog. She was going on vacation and the kennel she boards at was full. I said yes, as long as the dogs got along. Wed she brought him over (Waffle, a cocker poodle mix) and they did get along great. Then on Thurs my dad dropped Nikki off at my house, unaware that I was already dog sitting Waffle. It's been a full house!
Waffle practically tried to lay on top of Carly because he wanted to lay in the dog bed she was in. Carly yelped, she wasn't hurt - well, maybe her pride, and Maddie came running. It was kind of cute. Maddie sniffed her to make sure she was okay I guess, and licked her face. Then she crowded Waffle out of the dog bed and laid with Carly for like 5mins an then she jumped back onto the couch with me.
Maddie seems to like having a dog around the house her size and her speed. I took her and Waffle to a park we only occasionally get to go to because its farther away and its Huge. Lots of trails. They ran together, Maddie off leash and Waffle on the retractable leash. He looks nothing like a cocker, taller than Maddie, but their pace was like the exact same.
I was asked to groom him, which I did. What I nightmare! He had like 3 inches of hair all over. Matted and everywhere. She asked me to shave him down, no fancy poodle cuts. I shaved him, he was a very good boy, and bathed him. I gave him a rest and let him air dry and then I shaved on him again. He doesn't look like the same dog! I groomed all four dogs that day. I was exhusted
Nikki goes hom tonight and Waffle is supossed to be picked up tomorrow. I forgot how much work it was to have 4 dogs, though its not as hard as one would imagine.
When they go home I'm going to take Maddie and Carly out with me for some quality bonding time. My poor spoiled, neglected dogs LoL!
And to answer your question, my mom has cooled her jets about getting a dog. She's actually concerned about getting a dog to fit her lifestyle, so it'll be a while. Phew!
