Mines are:

Shar pei (now I LOVE them!!!)
Chinese crested
pekinese
Dogue de Bordeaux
american cockers (I was TOO used of seein the english ones that when I saw an A. cocker for the first time I think they looked weird, but now I like them)

The boxer. And now I have TWO!!!

And then the WPPM - Wirehaired Portuguese Podengo Medio. A greyhound freak turned me onto them and I have fallen in love.

I just thought about a thread like this. My taste in dogs has really changed over time. Some breeds I wasn't interested in at all before I seem to like and find more attractive now -

GSD
Collie
Sheltie

I know there are more, but can't think of any...

Yes I agree, as I got older, my tastes in dogs have changed. Interesting isn't it, how your tastes in so many things change?

There is one breed I do not like because I was tortured by one for years and have the scars to prove it. I haven't changed my mind, but that is probably because when I see one, I run. lol.

Years ago, the super sleek, pointy muzzled dogs like greyhounds didn't appeal to me. And now they do. I did however, always like the look of a Doberman. Let's see, what else...A lot of toy breeds I didn't think I'd like and now I do. I didn't like Poodles and that might be one of my future breeds, any size. So, yes indeed, tastes change. I'm sure there are others too, but those are a few.

Just to mention a few...

First off, Pitbulls and other dogs of that type. Quite frankly, I believed the hype. After meeting several, I can say that it's an undeserved hype-and though they are not my dog of choice for my home, I don't want to see them or their reputation tarnished.

Sighthounds. All of them. I used to think they looked emaciated and I hated the "pointy nose" thingy. Now I'm in love with their sleekness and speed and agility.

Wirehaired dogs: I thought they looked mangy and stringy. Now I think that some of them look rather regal and quite handsome.

Dobies. I never actually disliked them, but they never appealed to me. No we have one at our shelter who I want so badly.

Actually most of my favorites now were my least favorites a long time ago.

First of all- papillons. Actually, I just never had ANY interest until we got Beau. Now I can't get enough of their personality. I wasn't a fan of small fluffy dogs, but I tell you, those guys are just a blast of the most addicting personality I've ever seen in a breed.

Another favorite of mine now is Ibizans. For some reason we had this old old dog book that had Pharaohs and Ibizans on the same page. I was convinced (remember I was about 5 or so at this time) that both breeds were hairless. No idea why. I thought they were the ugliest things. LOL Now I find both of them the most aesthetically attractive breeds in existence.

Though I'm not a bully breed person, I've also decided that pit bulls can be very attractive looking dogs if bred right. Pugs are also growing on me a lot. I blame this really cute one I met at a show. So are border collies and greyhounds. (Though honestly, I've always liked greyhounds)

But basically the only breeds I've really been consistent in liking are collies and shelties.

I never cared for Chinese cresteds in the past but now I think they look amazing. I haven't had the opportunity to meet one in person, however, so it's based on looks only but if the temperament would be suitable for me and I lived in a more suitable climate for such a dog I could definately imagine myself getting one.

Chi's. Always made fun of them (saying things like "they're only good as bait to catch alligators and real dogs). A buddy has a chi mix, though and I think that thing is great. Plus, they make me laugh. Who cannot use more laughter in their day?

I did not like bullies until my daughter bought home squirt, half pit half boxer. Best dog ever, and great personality.

Most of the changes I have had are due to this forum

Greyhounds: I could not stand the look of them, all thin with tucked tail. Now I LOVE them, Everyday on my way to school we drive past a guy with his Greyhound and I really want to meet him.

Small dogs: I never liked small dogs, I still would never want to own one but i don't dislike them anymore.

Poodles: I HATED Poodles (standard, small goes up with "small dogs"), I thought they were for the rich fancy type. Then I learned they were hunting dogs and you don't need to give them those hair cuts, so i like them now.

Like Houndlove I never imagined I would have any dog from the hound group and the appeal of the beagle was a mystery to me. Coonhounds weren't even on my radar, but I didn't think they had any personality. Now I don't know how I ever got on without one.

I was never big on hounds..... of any kind.

I couldn't figure out why anyone would want to own a hound dog.

Now I can't imagine life without some sort of hound loping around :D

Rottweilers. I'd never met a decent one until recently, but after seeing the difference good breeding and good training can make, I wouldn't be opposed to considering one for a future dog.

I realy like pugs now. I blame Showpug for that. >.<

I never liked huskies - I though they were realy loud and yappy things, but then I got Sindra and Jack. I love them to death.

When I was six our neighbour had a DA Labrador that attacked out Neapolitan Mastiff pup, and I hated them until I decided my next breed shall be a lab.

I realy didn't like shelties either. I blame Laurelin for this as much as I blame Showpug for making me fall in love with pugs.

I also realy love shar-peis now.

^^

German Shepherds. Used to think they were too cliche but after looking at them more I LOVE them, particularily the German imports.

Now I'd definetly like to rescue one one day.

Also used to not like Huskies now I love them to.
