Its too late for me now, but incase it ever happens to anyone else, and maybe to help the guilt I have always had, I'd like to pose a question. My first dog of my own was kidnapped out of my backyard. My first reaction was that he somehow got away. But, his collar was hanging up on a post and unhooked from his run line and the gate to the yard open. I called the pounds and posted a reward sign and went through some grueling visits everytime there was a "group rescue" of several dogs (including once case of a crazy old lady that had over a 100 dogs and cats). I finally was told that he was probably stolen to be sold to the science labs. I was living near johns hopkins medical school where there are numerous study labs etc. I tried calling around but ofcourse animal testing is not anyone is willing to talk about. The idea that he spent the rest of his life as a guinea pig in a cage was and still is unbearable to me. I still wonder WHAT COULD I HAVE DONE TO FIND HIM? Now that there is internet I feel like I might have been able to find help. Are there any associations that deal with this issue? I wish there were a law that required them to post all animals to the local pound or something. My poor chubaka, i had to learn the hard way.
