is this a pit bull? from what i have read it is a complete different breed then the pit bull

Its called the Saffordshire Bull Terrier. It is a different breed, although it is closely related to the Pit Bull.

Not that I know of. Staffs are much smaller and chuky from pits.

I thought pit bull wasn't a breed....that it was an accumulation of different breeds? Including the stafordshire terrier, american pit bull terrrier, etc.? Didn't we have a thread about that before?

The American Staffordshire Terrier is the closest to the "pit bull". Pit bull is more or less a generic term that covers anything that looks like a pit or Staffordshire, etc. Most places consider Staffordshire Bull Terriers to be "pit bulls". You better get a letter from AKC and the dog's breeder to cover your butt.

Staffordshire Bull Terriers, American Staffordshire Bull Terriers, and American Pit Bull Terriers are often clumped together as one and referred to as pit bulls...yes, I do this sometimes, too. Staffies are a bit smaller and have wider heads. Many places do not allow "pit bull type" dogs (which would be staffies and pits).
