Gezzz I don't know if I can stomach watching a video of the Parsons!!! The photo's from Best and Opposite are bad enough!!! Boy it sure doesn't take them long does it, to change and ruin a breed??? That bitch has a deep chest and the male is so straight in front it isn't funny .........and those are the best? Good grief. I shudder to think what another 10 years will do.....
But thanks for the link.

lol we all know these shows are just beauty contests, that have nothing to do with what the dog 'should' look like for its job. LOL I was disgusted a few years back looking at the winning lab, the dog was so massive and fat (but not just fat..was build like a draft horse) there was no way that dog could run over fields and scrub all day retrieving!

But I will likely watch to see all the swishing hair, poufy dogs, and see women run in high heels hehehe

I actually rather liked the Amstaff that went BOB, which is amazing. Typical blocky Amstaff, but exuberant and leaping on his handler. It makes me crazy how many tails I saw tucked. What happened to "their courage is proverbial"?

LMAO Dekka.

I'm watching the Bloodhounds right now, and I'm not overly impressed by any of them. The first one, IMO, is too tall.. I need to check out the current breed standard, but the one I'm more familiar with says they should be longer.

But it's okay, I LOVE Bloodhounds. :D

It also moved like it had a stick up it's butt...it's back legs looked wacky, though I know nothing about how Bloodhounds are supposed to move.
I didn't know their heads were so friggin huge either! lol

Yep, heads are fine and normal. I agree, I HATED his movement. Was surprised to see so many liver/tans.

I only saw ONE hound that had the ideal body shape... there turned out to be a few that were too tall and the rest were just way too long. They were Bassets, not Bloodhounds! The one that won was long and low.

I saw at least one with a snipey-er muzzle than you like to see on a Bloodhound.. how the HELL did that dog make it to Westminster? It did NOT have the right lip/flew shape AT ALL. And I'm not even a Bloodhound judge. It's like taking a Doberman to Westminster without cat feet. WTF? It would have been very obvious had that dog had anything in her(?) mouth.

I'm beginning to wonder if the standard has changed..... because the only bloodhound book I've gotten my hands on is very old... 20 or 30 years, I think. And it had a very nice illustrated standard.

the standard places preference on taller height and heavier weight within the acceptable ranges, and providing all else is equal. 27" is at the high end but there is no cap or penalty on weight or height.

No proportions or ratios in the standard.
I tell a lie..."he stands over more ground than hounds of other breeds"...which could be a Beagle..Harrier...or Borzoi LOL.

Gotta love a vague standard! Would that they all could be Dane like in language!

Not to be rude, but I really was insulted by this post. As someone who shows there is much more than just a BEAUTY contest to shows. I have to question if you show yourself or if your just one of the people who is passing judgement on something they know nothing about ? Now I myself will say that yes, there are certain cases that are extreme, but not so for the majority. To make such a bold accusation just baffles me... its not about beauty... its about breeding for the standard. And if you breed to the standard, the dog should have no problem going out and doing the job it was bred to do. I have no doubt my Rottweilers could go out and do the job they were bred to do. I myself keep them from it because I dont have the finacial abilities to do both.
