No no, you misunderstood. I'm talking about when it's grown up. As a puppy I'm going to take it to the beach with me every chance I get.

I was planning on keeping it in the house, and leaving the side door open so it can go outside freely. I have two friends who are over so much it's probably going to end up viewing them as family. Aside from them I have people over probably about once a month.

I'm immature now :confused: What's the exact level of maturity do I need to convey to own a Fila? Is there a rule? I love dogs, I've been raising dogs my whole life, I know how they tick. Does the fact that I'm 18 make me a lesser dog owner than anyone else on this forum? It sure hasn't...

To make a long story short, I live in a bad neighborhood. It's not only important to me that the dog can defend my property but that it can defend its self.

I figured someone would want me to tell the story, and I didn't want this thread to go off-topic again. And could either of you tell me why you don't think a Fila is right for me? What type of dog would you reccomend?

Britney Spaniel, Cocker Spaniel, Poodle, Doberman, Rottweiler, Pittbull. Not all of the dogs were mine, but I helped a friend out when he made the mistake of buying a Pittbull as a first time dog owner.

When I started this thread it was a breed I was wondering about. Now after doing some research and hearing what the people on this forum have to say it's prettymuch set in stone. I've yet to talk to any Fila owners who are unhappy with their dog.

Agreed, the thread started as a flame war and after 75 posts has turned into a pitbull debate. Out of all the posts I've read about 5 of them were helpful. Much thanks to those who provided information about Filas, I'm looking into buying one from Lone Wolf Filas if anyone knows anything...

I love how loyal they are to their family and that they will not let strangers into my house when I'm not around. Out of all of the dogs I have looked at, this one seems asthough it would be the one most likely to get along with the other animals in my house.
