Why do people think every mix in the world is a pit mix? I swear to god I could put a picture of a purebred Italian greyhound up and ask what breeds people thought my new shelter dog was, and someone would suggest pit mix. NOT EVERY DOG IN THE WORLD WITH A SKULL IS A PIT MIX, PEOPLE.
I have no idea why that bugs me so much.
I've gotten it with Rigby before. Only twice, but it still bugs me.
One was a man at one of our shows. He approached me, pointed at Rigby and said something along the lines of "I have a pit bull at home too, it's a good dog"
Another was something along the lines of "aren't those dogs banned in Ontario?"
Rigby the pointy faced herding dog....
This bugs me, too, but do does the opposite. I get really annoyed when I see a dog that is so freaking obviously an APBT/mix and the shelter labels it a "lab mix" so its chances of adoption is higher.
That also bugs me! I get that they want to increase the dog's chance at adoption, but is that really wise? Labs are a very different breed in terms of temperament than Pits.
I actually see a lot around here labelled as Cattle Dog mixes. It's like I see NO cattle dog whatsoever in these dogs. One was so blatantly a pit mix and it said "There is NO pit bull in this dog, it's a kelpie mix"
