I'd be interested to see how many people this does the exact opposite too though.
Preaching appears to have the interesting effect of turning people to atheism. Surely god realises this.
Well, note that I didn't say HOW they're supposed to spread the word and try to save people... I think we had a conversation about this on here a few years ago. Honestly I doubt if most people on this forum know I'm a Christian... I don't hide it, I'll talk openly about it with people if they are really interested to know about my faith. But I don't run around beating people over the head with the bible either LOL. If people don't really pay a lot of attention to threads in the Fire Hydrant they probably wouldn't know.
And usually when people find out they're surprised because "you're so cool." And to them you can't be a genuinely nice, cool person and also still be a Christian... which makes me really sad, but that seems to be the thought process.
But I dunno. To me it's about how I live my life. I try to live my life the way I'm supposed to and I usually let that speak for itself. You CAN be a cool person and be a Christian... because I do it every day.
Maybe I'm the one doing it wrong. Maybe I'm supposed to run around whacking people on the head with a Bible. I don't know for sure. But I sure am trying.
All my teachers were very anti fire and brimstone and converting others was never talked about.
That totally shocks me, because my co-worker was basically told the souls of EVERY SINGLE PERSON he passes EVER, including random strangers on the street, rest on him to save.
One of my friends from high school was told that in heaven you will forever hear the screams of the people you failed to save as they languish in hell.
Even non-Catholics are told they are supposed to spread the word, but my friends who are Catholic seem to have been given more guilt about it than the other Christian religions...
