Lucy has recently been having an incontinence issue so we made a trip to the vet. The urinalysis showed that she had a high PH (8.5) and a low specific gravity, cant remember that number now. She was put on Proin and DL Methionine tablets yesterday. This morning her belly was fire engine red! As were her gums and the insides of her ears. The vet said no more meds and to start her on Benedryl immediately. She has shown some improvement. Has anyone else experienced this reaction?
I am also looking for some alternatives for a urine acidification supplement, but most seem to contain DL Methionine. Any suggestions? Would a change in diet help? She is currently eating California Natural.
