    Favourite dogs from your homeland?

Well, first I'm American.... So that breed would be the Silken Windhound. I'm Scottish on my mom's side, so that breed would be the Scottish Deerhound. I'm Irish on my dad's side, so that breed would be the Irish Wolfhound. I *LOVE* sighthounds!!

    What sports...

Sooo many things! Agility, obedience, rally obedience, free style, tracking, even hunt tests. Poodles were originally bred as gun dogs, to retrieve ducks from water for the hunters. Standard Poodles are fun dogs ;)

    ~*Silken Windhound*~

Silkens love snow! Here's a link to an album of Silkens playing in the snow.... Silkens In Snow The best starting point to learn about the breed is the creator's website.... Kristull Kennel The breeding I posted about fell-through, no puppies:( There are a couple more nearby breedings...

    ~*Silken Windhound*~

There are quite a few Silken Windhounds in Northern California, which is about a 5-hour drive for me. I've been making semi-annual trips for my Silken-fix the past 2.5 years. No, I don't plan on breeding my future Silken Windhound. He will eventually be my mobility-assistance dog. I'm sooooo...

    Do Hounds Smell?

In general, sighthounds have very little to no doggy odor. But I agree that smell from any dog has more to do with it's living conditions, hygeine and diet than the breed.

    Brittany spaniel

Brittanies are wonderful dogs! The "spaniel" was officially dropped quite a few years ago. They are a high-energy breed which retains its hunting instincts; unlike most of the sporting breeds in the U.S. which now have 2 different breed "types" for dog shows or for hunting. In the USA, colors...

What sort of testing should different breeds have done?

Actually MDR1 testing is critical for Silken Windhounds as well. Since the breed is only 20 years old, the breeding gene pool needs to be kept free of affected dogs. And by testing every pup born breeding can be limited to carrier-to-clear dogs, and work toward the goal of more clear-to-clear...

    Irregular Heat Cycles

Well, I've only had males but.... I've learned some interesting heat cycle stuff since I've been researching breeders for my next puppy.... Some bitches are "late bloomers" and don't come into heat until 18-24 months of age; some bitches have regular heat cycles but in staggered patterns, for...

Show me your dogs stocking photos!

Is just a holiday photo okay? Here are the 2 Springers I grew-up with.... Kyle is the liver & white (down), Kodi is black & white (sitting). They were 1 year & 1 month old, photo was taken in 1982:)

Share what your dog has eaten

Kyle, one of the Springers I grew-up with, ate a $5 bill off the coffee table. That was really the only odd thing any of our pets have eaten. Mind you, he did leave the two $1 bills:lol-sign:

    Boxers!

I don't own a Boxer, but have had 6 in my training classes over the past couple years. I actually didn't know there were so many in my town:lol-sign: All but one have been the reddish-fawn color, the other a brindle. They have been among my best students, very smart and a delight to have in...
