So CrystalGSD was right that there was 7 puppies. 4 girls, 3 boys. Sadly, one of the girls had a detached placenta. She fought hard and lasted 3 days, but didn't make it. I'm glad we had the chance to meet her though. They were born 8 days ago. I just finally got enough energy to post about it.

Here's all seven of them together. Suzie is the detatched placenta girl. She's the all white one on the end.

Haha, I wish there was enough to go around! It was sad telling people we didn't have a puppy for them this time around, but I'm grateful for the ones we did get.

There's one girl of each color left. A tri, a red (those dark browns will fade out to clear gold/red) and a silver.

Before they were born I said I didn't want a white dog, so of course the most awesome girl so far is the silver who is 90% white. . . oh murphy.

My sister really like the red so far. Her name is Lenore. It's going to be so hard picking between the tri girl and the silver. Aarrrgh.

Pops, the great granddad of these puppies was #2 courser in the US. I wanted to pull him into the lines because he was 33" tall and won best in field at the borzoi national that year several days in a row and retired the zorya cup. Most dogs win BIF one day and are too pooped to run the next. He had the size, speed, and stamina for what borzois should be able to do.

Her breeder and I are going to co own a nice little bitch that is out of a frozen semen breeding directly from that male. Going for substance/speed, because there are a lot of really nice coursing dogs out there I would never risk putting on coyotes.

I had been thinking i wanted to move away from tazi types, but you are putting so much thought and research into your breedings that now i am starting to jones for a pup your bred. one day! just not now.

That's really flattering coming from you, especially since conversations with you about working dogs had a heavy influence on my breeding goals.

Ideally I think a borzoi should be able to win in the show ring and have the stamina/strength to still hunt wolves. I have high hopes for this litter. They should definitely have the substance/structure, once I get them in the field I'll have a better idea of where to go next. In a few years I might have a dog ready that's up to your standard, and it sure would be nice to have a working home to place one in to test them out.

I keep trying for pictures and every time I get them cleaned up, there is a poosplosion. :cry:

The silver and white is beautiful, but oh my gosh the tricolor girl is a little spitfire and she is extremely substantial. I am not looking forward to picking between them.
