HI everyone. I have not posted for awhile. Just finished interning and now am done with school! Yay.

Anyway, back to dog subject. In a year or so, maybe sooner we will be ready for another dog. I've always wanted to do visitation/therapy work at nursing homes and for people getting chemotherapy, etc. I think it would be nice to have a dog small enough to place on their laps, a "non-shedding" coat type, and a people-loving temperament. There is never a guarentee but what breeds would you recommend? I have thought of the maltese and have heard only good things about them, they are soo small though; I've never had a dog that small and worry about it getting hurt.
I am open to really any size dog if I can't settle on a toy/small breed. Open to suggestions or opinions.

If your number one requirement for a dog is nonshedding.. or low-shed... then try a dog with a wire-haired coat, or a dog with "hair" such as a Poodle, Yorkie, or Bichon.

No real suggestions for you as to temperament.. I would try rescue if that is the case. :) Then you can see what you're getting.

If you're going small I say go Chinese Crested. They just LOVE to snuggle!!

But my recommendation is to go big and get a retired racing Greyhound. Most of them loving nothing more than to be snuggled and loved on 24/7 . . . calm and cool they are the perfect therapy dog.

After reading this, poodle just screamed at me.
They love a cuddle!
Also if size is a problem, poodles come in diffrent sizes.
Have you thought of getting a shelter poodle,i hear theres tons in shelters all over da USA.
Yeah,so i reccomend a minature poodle.
