Does anybody have nicknames that they call their dog instead of the actual name that you tell everybody is their name?

I constantly call Rocky "Little Bear", haha... yeah, yeah - laugh it up.

But I do call him Rocky but generally I just go from nickname to nickname (he responds to everything), so what do you do? Stick to the name that you've dubbed your dog or go with nicknames?

I stick to their names when talking to them. When I wanted to talk about them behind their backs, i.e., straight in front of their faces - but do not want to cause any commotion, I use their nicknames :)

I call Ripley an extremely embarrassing bunch of baby-talk nicknames. The most common is "smoooooodles". I usually only use his real name when I'm giving him a command or when he's doing something that he needs to stop NOW.

Dakota really doesn't have a bunch of nicknames that I use on a regular basis, though I do call him "buddy" a lot.

-poopy butt
-lil brat
-honey bunches of oakley

EDIT: just gonna add...oakley does respond to most of the names, as long as they are said in the right tone of voice...

Too many to list over the years !! I stick to just Ollie so far .... don't think he's had that name over 6 months . I refer to him with other names , such as lover , sweetie etc. but when calling him , it's Ollie . I've now had him 5 months !

Okay I am embarrassed, but to get Squirt to come into the house when she is playing, in a very high falsetto voice, I sing SQUIRTIE MCWHORTIE, SQUIRTLE SQUIRTLE SQUIRTLE. Works every t ime, but my neighbors think I am crazy.

I seldom actually call Spanky by Spanky unless it's calling him to come, but it's usually a variation of the name......
Spanks, Spanksters are most common

He also gets called Puppy and Sweet Boy alot

the cats:
Charlie gets called Charles much more than he gets called Charlie.
Also Bozo and Butthead

Venus is called Veenie, Princess, and Little Girl

I don't have any nicknames for Gypsy but I do like to take that song "country roads" by Bob Denver and replace it with "gypsy rose" and sing it loudly to her. She hates it, I think it's great!

"Gypsy Rose...take me home,
to the place I belong.
West virginia, mountain momma,
Take me home, Gypsy Rose"
