I am feeding wayyyyyy too many treats throughout the day for training.

So what kibbles do you guys like as training treats? I've bought 5lb bags of kibbles in the past and it's worked out well. But obviously there are a lot of different kinds so I figure I'd ask what the current favorites are and go from there. HaHa.

My dogs are easy and work for whatever :p If I'm buying specifically for treats, I tend to go with something fish based because stinky. I also like buying ZiwiPeak freeze dried food (not their treats, the actual food) since the pieces are small, you can break it into smaller pieces easily, lasts forever, and my guys find it higher value than kibble. Most privately owned pet stores seem to carry at least the small bags IME.

I just tried a bag.if Evangers meat medley and was surprised to find the kibbles way smaller than our usual Orijen/Acana. Way more treats per cup.

Our regular kibble is def not high value enough unless there is absolutely nothing else going on or they are hungry(which I don't always have time to train before feeding). I was actually looking at Fromm, but went with Orijen on suggestion of the lady at the store.

Julee, I was actually looking at the freeze dried raw stuff. I was thinking it might be a good way to get more raw into their diets. It totally didn't occur to me about being able to break into an appropriate size, but that is a plus as well!

Pinkspore, I will look at evangers. Smaller kibbles are definitely a requirement to use as a treat kibble.

Chewy tells me that Fromm is what I am currently feeding Hudson. Next time we get together I can bring some. For Mr. "I don't eat food," I have a mixed lot of cat food, kibble, a random assortment of treats from my BarkBox, dehydrated liver and/or beef heart. Sorry, I'm no help

I love getting samples from pet stores to use. I also use fresh pet and natural
Balance rolls that havd to be refrigerated, and have used freeze dried foods as well.

Terri if you could bring a small amount of kibble that would be awesome. :)

Fresh pet is all refrigerated foods right? No leave out kinds? That might be good for higher value needs.

As far as I know, everything they sell is refrigerated. I use the dog chunks or cat chunks in the bag, not the rolls, just because lazy haha
