Two dogs:
Jasmine: That was her name when she was dropped off at the shelter. We hoped to rename her, but she came to both Jasmine and Jas, so we just kept it.

Damiana: Her name was Lemon when dropped off at the shelter, but she never answered to that name. The shelter named her Glenda because there was a Lemon already there. We just hated Glenda. As we tried to come up with names, we hit Damiana, and Dami, and she turned her head and looked at us each time we said either of those words. We kept the name.

My 4-legged friend's name is Blackstar. She's a gs/husky mix and she is all black with a white patch the shape of a star on her chest.
Thus the name.....
Although she's close with all the members of the family, she's my special-special.
I saw her on PetFinder 9 human years ago, and it's been a love affair since then:)

My own reasons.....

Hello everyone!

Here are the reasons why we choose these names for our dog:

#1: SPIKE - the oldest of our dogs (10 years old, bloodhound), because our family wants to start with letter S, and we want the easiest name to call with so that he may know his name well.

#2: SWEET - she is a Maltise and the most beautiful dog in our "palace". She is also very kind to visitors and always "kiss" my dad when he leaves. She could be called as "SNOW", but my mom won't because the dog thinks that we say "NO", so we call her SWEET.

#3: SUTAY - the first born puppy of SWEET (mixed maltise + shih tzu), which their father was a colored brown + black + white shih tzu. We call her SUTAY, and I am surprised why my parents want that name? To be unique? Oh well.....

#4: SITOY - the second born puppy of SWEET (mixed maltise + shih tzu). We want this name so that it can be an opposite of SUTAY that can be determine they're siblings.

#5: MALIGNO - he was our latest guard dog, some kind of Belgian dark brown color. He will take over when SPIKE will die. The reason why we call him, because his dark brown color and figure shows that he's a "MONSTER" in our palace. Ahahaha!

Our other puppies of SWEET (Shok, Scooby and Siomai) all died of parvo virus, and our Dobermann (Skip) died of dreadful stomach illness. May they rest in peace!

So I hope you like the names, and I think some of the names given here will make you laugh. Ahahaha!:lol-sign:

I am about to get a new puppy and I'm going to call her "Lilith". She'll be the first female dog I've ever owned. For those of you who know a certain story about Lilith, it should be easy to see why I'm going to name my next puppy that.

Other dogs I've had:

Puppay: I named a terrior mix that simply because I couldn't think of a name.

CT: A lab/border collie, named after a guy in a movie. I named him that because . . . you don't want to know.

Ruffy: A hound dog mix, named him that because he was a rough looking dog.

LD: A rotty mix, stands for "Little Dog". So little could fit in a cap (When he was a puppy)!

And finally:

Rock: He was actually my sis's dog, but the whole family loved him. He had a hard head, that's why we named him Rock.

How Xena got her name...

I have a 14 year old son and 10 year old daughter. Sibling rivalry has been running rampant for several years. It was in full force when we made the two hour drive to a shelter to adopt Xena (who was called Dusty at the time). The entire trip I was suggesting names. One would like it , one wouldn't.

I finally started going through the alphabet. You can see how long it took us to agree on a name. She has been our little warrier princess ever since! :lol-sign:

We named out dogs Chief and Scout. Chief certainly lives up to his name, as he thinks he is the Chief, as for where we got it from, we got him home first at 8 weeks and decided that Chief was a good name for him because he certainly did take over pretty quick. Scout we got at 1.5 years old and his name was Bret..The breeder named him that. We changed it to Scout because he is constantly Scouting for birds in the bush.

We are happy we picked those names because they suit both dogs very well.

Izzie was named because i love Grey's Anatomy and was trying to get a name from there. I had it down to Bailey, Isobel (Izzie), and Callie... Callie was out though because my friend's name is that, Bailey is so common and i didn't really want it. Izzie is my little blondie, she's the lightest of my crew, and has a bubbly personality so i went with Isobel for her lol. It fits her perfectly.

my chow hannah was already named when I got her, I'm not sure how or why her previous owners chose that name but it kind of suits her. I contiplated changing her name when I got her but she went thru s many changes in her life I thought I'd at least let her keep her name.

When I got my pom I started calling him jesse then changed it to jinx, then it was mort, then mortimer (my brothers granddaughters were helping me with some of these names) then later we went to papa murphy's for dinner...so yup, you guessed it, his name is murphy.

Just upon there actions, like Charliee for example. Her official name is Charles Manson, Charliee for short. She is NUTS and has been since she was 11 weeks old. Hyper as hell, can jump over 8ft privacy fences and is crazy DA and is only 9 months old. :rofl1:

I usually name them like that, just based on their character,

Pax is the latin term for "Peace" which suits him well as he is a big huge pansy...:)

Jack came to us from the shelter called barksley :/ after just a week with him we changed it to JackJack from the incredibles... as he changes form and manner is seconds just like the baby does.

We were babysitting my father in laws bosses dog named Otis which is now there best friend i loved Otis from the first moment i saw him so i decided that we would get a shitzu of our own we wanted something that reminded us of Otis and for some reason Oatmeal came to mind :lol-sign: Don't know how that happened.

We got Kasumi after we realized that we loved the shitzu breed and my husband loved to play dead or alive beach volley ball :rofl1: Kasumi was his favorite player.

We found a lab/retriever mix on the side of the road after her mom had gotten hit by a car and there was no way i could leaver her there. When we brought her home she constantly cried i guess from missing her mom and being in a strange place and it reminded me of the elmo doll sometimes that thing can get pretty annoying. :lol-sign:
