Border Collies, hands down. I will always have several of them and I don't even know if I can own another breed. They are the perfect dog for me.

For me its dalmatians. I've owned 3 and will continue. I don't know what I'm going to do when I'm old and cant handle the energy of a dalmatian puppy. I see breeds I like but something always stops me.

But yeah, as far as "is this the right breed" it's shelties. No need to go elsewhere. I love them.
Except Pepper. Somebody can take Pepper.
(I'm kidding.)
(Usually.)
I'll take her :D :rofl1:

I like the combination of the two I have now. Shelties and Cockers are breeds I've always had, they're comfortable. They fit.
If you ask anyone around here "my breed" they'd tell you cocker, hands down. It's the breed I'm active with (rescue) and I affiliate with a lot. But to be honest, the Sheltie is more of a perfect fit for me and my lifestyle right now. I'm definitely a herding breed person, and I love the attentiveness, and even the 'quirks' that other people don't like. The barking or talking woooowooowooo doesn't bother me in the least, nor does the energy level or the I'm-too-smart-for-my-own-good behaviors :p lol

So shelties and cockers, yah. That being said, I love a good GSD and I'm considering an ES or Aussie in the future, when I'm ready for my slightly bigger dog :p So who knows

I used to say I was a Dobe person, but then I got a Greyhound and became a Dobe and Greyhound person. Then I got a Dogo and became a Dobe, Greyhound, Dogo person! :)

In all reality, I like certain types of dogs- small hunting type terriers (Patterdale, Jadg, JRT, Rat Terrier, Manchester Terrier), large working mastiff breeds, sighthounds, Dobes and pit bulls/Amstaffs. I like having a mixed pack so a variety works well for me. The breeds I like seem to compliment each other very well where as multiple of some of them wouldn't work. Like I wouldn't do too well having multiple male Dogos together, but having a male Dogo with a male Greyhound- it works out better due to the differences in personality/temperament. I prefer male dogs to females so usually end up with males.

There are other breeds I would like to have one day. Mainly other sighthounds- Scottish Deerhound, Ibizan Hound, or even a lurcher/staghound and a few other mastiff breeds like a Fila, Presa or Cane Corso, but my core 3 breeds are Greyhound, Dogo and Doberman. I don't currently have a Dobe, only b/c losing Zeus crushed me, but one day I will have another when the time is right.

I've come to the conclusion that I really, truly adore Staffordshire Bull Terriers. Yes, I will have more.

But I also love my really small dogs like Abby. I don't want some of the traits she has like lack of nerve and level of reactivity, but there is lots that I love about her - her spunk, activity level, liveliness, intelligence (to me she is a clever dog, not easy to train for me because I am a mediocre trainer at best, but she is very good at shaping me and an excellent problem solver), her independence... there is a lot to love.

I'm interested in Schipperkes and Papillons.

And then I could seriously see myself with a lab of all breeds lol. I really covet standard poodles, ESS, Brittanys, GSPs and similar but I think they may be a little too active for me??

I could also see myself with a shelter mutt.

So the next dog question is really hard for me, but I doubt I'll be a one breed person.

I am first and foremost always an Afghan person. I always will be. As far as I know anyway. I think I am also always going to be a saluki person.

There are lots of other sighthound breeds I want to try as well, but I will always have at least one Afghan hound....and maybe a saluki as well. No desire to branch out of sighthounds though!
I am really not a 'dog person'. There are too many things I don't have much patience for, or normal 'doggy' behaviors that just drive me nuts. Much easier for me just to stick with what works and pick a breed I can easily live with.

Afghan hounds suit me so well. I find them so easy to live with.

I really think I have. Some people thought it was weird that I'd choose such an uncommon breed as my first dog, but I wouldn't have it any other way now. I am so happy with our three (four by next year, if everything works out :)) Longhaired whippets fit me like a glove and I can't see myself without one or two. Love the breed, love the people in the breed.

That being said, I like change and variety, and there's a ton of breeds I could see myself owning someday. While I feel like LHWs are "my" breed, I'm not sure I'd be content owning only them for the rest of my life.

Clearly I love my Plotts. I'm pretty sure I'll just stick with them, although sometimes I get the urge for a leopard cur. Daisy is my whole world but I'm not sure I'll ever have another basset, unless the perfect black & white comes into rescue.

Apparently I have become a coonhound person- and we are a coonhound family. After Uncle Fred-who I will always love- died, the discussion in our household was whether to get another Walker, or to consider a Bluetick or English, and that is all. And we got another Walker. Life is not as good without a coonhound asleep on your sofa. And I am happy to say there is one asleep there right now.

Interesting question! I answered "not yet, but I am looking" because while I LOVE both of my boys and couldn't live without them, I don't think either is exactly "my" breed. I will always have a variety, though. I like to mix things up. I think I will always have an ANCD or other wolfy-type dog, but I need something else as well. I'm hoping it's going to be a Malinois!

Aussies just really click with me, I got Cara and fell head over heals. I added Mercy and I'm just even more in love with the breed. I will always own aussies, and really have no desire to try any other breeds.

I'm in limbo.

I love hounds, but after losing Maddy the way I did, she's put me off having young ones.

I want a Cocker, and I really feel like they will be the perfect breed for me in the future, but at the moment, I really don't know. Greyhounds are my favourite breed, perfect in every way, but I don't feel I can give them what they need anymore.

Yes, I definitely believe I've found my breed. English Shepherds are a perfect fit for me! Now, I still have a ton of other breeds I'd like to own (maybe I will find an even better fit, you never know!) but I think I'll always have an ES.

As much as I try to deny it, I always end up looking for another Bullterrier. Also, a boar-hunting "type" or running mastiff, for want of a better term, will always be round the place (currently a Dogo cross but I'm a sucker for any of those Ozzie mutts they use, you know RR x Staff or whatever).

At the moment I'm looking into shepherds as well, so all in all I think I'm just an all-round doggy dude;)
