Haha, I've been reading through the Secret Santa Wishlist posts and feeling guilty. A bunch of people don't feed gluten! And some people don't even feed harmful preservatives.

And here I thought my dogs were living garbage disposals.

Lol. I was just doing training with those Puperoni things....terrible for the dogs? Probably. Easy to treat with? Definitely. And Tipper will work her ass off for them so I'm not willing to give them up yet. Don't feel too bad. ;)

My Bully will do anything for a Pupperoni stick!

I actually threw something on the floor the other day and couldn't quite understand why it was still there when I turned around... Bodhi wasn't in the same room LOL

I am not a food.. Snob? Worrier? Enthusiast???? Connoisseur?????

I like to buy premium food, but mostly because it makes her super shiney and fit, and she doesn't smell like a DOG (and everyone comments on how nice she smells... for a dog!! Well, duh).

But yeah, I don't read every label before she is fed... She got yorkshire puddings, gravy and left over curry (all in the same bowl) the other night hehehe (a rare treat I may add, but still).

When I was dog sitting I let Izzy have some of Becket's pupperoni and sh eloved it. Within two days she had horrible yellow eye boogers that nearly crusted her eyes shut at night. I'd rather she be easier to treat but her anatomy has other plans

If my dogs weren't so sensitive to things, I wouldn't worry about giving them junk food every now and again. But they are, and I don't like to see them not feeling good or ridiculously itchy, so they only get healthy treats and only certain kinds. My favourite thing to give them as a treat are sweet potato chews, but they are so hard to find here for some reason!

I use Twizzler and M&M's for training treats all the time. Or at least when they're sitting around.

Awww poor Izzie!! I'm super glad that none of my dogs are allergic to anything - I dunno what I would bribe Tipper with lol.

My feeding Duncan leftovers is a preemptive measure, as he will just take them out of the trash later.

The other day he puked a plastic bag, but that I certainly did not feed him.

I remember when I first started raw with Bonnie. Everybody I spoke to said, "Start with bone-in chicken! Take the skin off! Make sure it's the right weight!"

I chucked Bonnie a nondescript piece of venison and she's been eating dead animals like a champ ever sense.

Pupperoni is our secret go to treat when we are in a pinch. :p It's nice that it's available everywhere so if we are at a trial and my dogs are suddenly not loving their treats or I forget to bring some, I can just stop at a Walgreen's and grab some pupperoni. LOL

I'm pretty happy with what my dogs eat, but when I'm a bit strapped for cash (buy chriossy presents atm) I keep supermarket kibble in the house because its A. more conveniant and B. they only eat maybe one kibble meal every 2 weeks if that.
None of ours have food allergies and they all have pretty good iron stomachs so it doesn't bother me.

I don't feed healthy treats at all lol. When I use them for training, I go through A LOT--so I buy cheap stuff.

Bedtime cookies are healthy, but other than that... not so much. I think moderation is fine, and my dogs aren't sensitive to them, so it's fine with me.

Jackson was a walking garbage disposal. Then he cost me almost $2000 so I decided he no longer could be. He does still get little tiny pieces of certain things, but no way would I allow him to be eating sausages, pepperoni, candy, or chocolate, etc. Not natural for humans, let alone dogs, LOL. It upsets my digestive system, too, haha.

The only dog treats he really gets are things like Buddy Biscuits (the soft chews) and stuff similar to that. They are low in fat and calories. He also LOVES all those little toddler things, those Gerber Puffs and Yogurt Melts, LOL. So I am starting to buy him those as treats.

He gets Weruva wet food which he is obsessed with. When it comes to high value, chicken or cheese will do. And then of course his dry food.

With a little dog, it's very easy to pack on the pounds and calories really easily so I try to avoid it. But he IS a food hound, he's obsessed with food.

I am usually quite careful about Sierra's diet and treats. I don't go grain/gluten free with treats, but I try to with food (which is easier with raw). I do make the choice to avoid chemical preservatives for the majority of the time, but a couple of times a year I will make exceptions. I guess I don't know why we could feed these regularly when we already know and acknowledge they are harmful and some are known carcinogens. That's my motivation towards avoiding them.

As for leftovers? No problem at all with those. If I made it myself I know what's in it, and usually have no issue with sharing with Sierra. Have I got leftovers in the fridge that have gone past the date that Matt and I can eat them? I have no problem with Sierra getting them then. Her stomach is stronger than ours ;)

My Dobe's favorite treat is... cookies. Ginger Snap and Sugar cookies. I like to buy cookie dough and bake them into small "kibbles" but in a pinch I'll buy a bag of Ginger Snaps and just break them up.

When you've had as many bad experiences with crappy pet food stuffs as I have you start to get picky.
Beside that stuff is ridiculously expensive compared to what I can make at home.

That doesn't mean my dogs don't get junk its just not dog junk.
We just shared a bag of popcorn :)
