60+ hour weeks aren't unusual for me during our busy season, and it really isn't that hard for me. In the summer my dogs still get long hikes most days even then. It is a little harder on me in the winter; during a big push before Thanksgiving, I realized I went five days without seeing the sun at all (no windows in the lab). No family to worry about, which helps.

I don't think I could stand the boredom of working a 'normal' 35 hour week. I would need some more hobbies!

Depends what the job was.

I could be a work from home dog snuggler.... Then yes!!!

If I got flexible working, 4 months paid leave, plus bank holidays etc... Then maybe....

I'm ALL about the work/life balance.

I work to live, I don't live to work.

I like the financial benefit of working, but I wouldn't if I didn't get to USE those benefits!!!!!

Where do you fit dogs into a 90 hour week?!

I couldn't even really fit Quinn into a 55-60 hour week.
With Kobe, he was at a daycare in which he got 2 hours of playtime per day. He was usually pretty done after that.

At worst, I'd have to do some mental stimulation with him when I got home. It's easier with an aloof dog though.

On the subject of salary, 70-90k isn't very much for the number of hours worked, and it's also not very much for where these kids are living. I went to college with a bunch of kids who got these types of jobs in NYC, and they were living in crappy 1 bedroom apartments with a roommate the first 5 or so years. When your rent is $3k per month, 90k really doesn't go very far.

I would absolutely not work 100 hours a week for 90k. People in my industry make that working 45 hours a week. For millions of dollars in bonuses? I might do it for a year or two, but I wouldn't make it in the financial industry long enough to get those types of bonuses.

I had a job where I used to travel a lot (at least every two weeks, often every week). When I was on a trip, I might work 12-16 hour shifts. It was horrible. I also didn't get paid any more than people in my industry who work office jobs and I was never home. It might have been better if I traveled to interesting places, but for the most part I went to the middle of nowhere in multiple states. I felt like I was never home and I couldn't have hobbies, because I didn't have a stable schedule.

I worked 2 hours away from home (via train) for 10 months. So basically a 12 hour day. In addition, there was about 7 hours of "overtime" each month on average. I was going to do it as long as I could and that turned out to be 10 months.

My wife took care of EVERYTHING. dogs, house, meals, dry cleaning, etc. She was also working at the time but had strange flexible hours. It still sucked.

I'd maybe work crazy hours IF my other half didn't have to work at all and we were able to afford help in the form of housecleaners, etc.

While 70-90K a year might be awesome in some states - It won't get you far at all in most metropolitan areas. This was just out today detailing San Francisco rental prices:

I don't really have friends or family out here, and Moo only NEEDS exercise 1x a week. I think I'd do it for a million + a year. Maybe only for one or two years. I've worked 70 hour weeks before and worked 2 months straight without a day off, so I could do 12 hour days 6 days a week if you gave me enough work to keep me busy.

No way, especially after reading what I am currently reading in my Kindle : a book called "Mind Over Medicine" by Lisa Rankin. There is whole two chapters dedicated for this type of work style and it's dangerous effects on the human health. A very interesting book. Lots to learn. I am still in chapter 8 of it, but I am so enjoying my learning.

Crazy working hours, along with the stress that must go with this, is not safe for the human's health. Health is very valuable. Not worth the big amount of $ in my personal view. Money can't buy happiness.

Nope. I could be dead tomorrow or next year. I plan to be around for a while but you never know. It's important to have some time off work to enjoy life.

I'd probably do it if it was only for a few years (up to 5 max) and meant financial security. Money means quiet a bit to me, though part of that may be because other than money holding me back, everything else is pretty darn great in my life. :p I would definitely do it for a year or two at least though.
