Artimis has a private session with our trainer on Wednesday. I'm so nervous.

I think the biggest problem is this isn't a person I can just not see again if I or Art does something embarrassing/stupid. I've been working with her for a few months with Talon. In fact, we made a deal that Talon and I help her with her private sessions and we get free private sessions for Artimis. Which is part of the problem. She's seen me with Talon and he's made such great progress I'm kind of afraid she'll loose a bit of respect for me when she's see's Art.

I mean, she does already know about Art and his issues. We've got a plan already, so I know what to expect when I get there, but I can' help but be nervous. I think I'm most nervous for my ego T_T

Best of luck!

I totally understand where you're coming from in terms of the ego :p
But a good trainer understands that different dogs learn and react to thing differently.
She knows the issues and knows you, I'm sure you will be fine!

Thanks guys, I think your good luck wishes helped! :p

So basically it went great, I don't know why I was so nervous. Artimis didn't react even once. It took less than 30 minutes before he was sitting in her lap, giving kisses, walking around the room like he owned the place, and just overall loving my trainer and not being worried about her at all.

We spent the first 10 minutes just letting Art get comfortable, talking about his past etc, while my trainer was at the opposite side of the room sitting and having completely non-rude/confrontational body language. Then I was told to let Art's leash drag, which Art walked slowly to Stacy, sniffing the ground and looking away from her every few steps. It was really interesting to be able to just sit there, relax (since I knew Stacy had everything under control), and just watch Art's behavior. I've never really been able to relax like that with a new person as I'm always trying to manage his behavior and keep him from reacting.

Basically, Art is a bit worried with people, but if the person gives him just a little time to relax with them he then love them. lol We've got a few things we are suppose to start working on, and then we'll schedule another session to see how the progress is going. :)

Way to go Art, sounds like a big success. :) Awesome that your trainer is able to put you both so at ease.
