Besides my local rescue work, every month I donate money to sponsor a dog at Best Friends Animal Sanctuary. I love this place, and have been able to visit a couple times myself. I thought for the new year I would let you all help me choose! :D

Here are the ones I'm deciding apon for January:

Astronomy

Imagine living outdoors in Maine! Tha'ts exactly what Astronomy was doing - in all seasons and in all weather - before he was rescued. When his person took a vacation one day, and left poor Astronomy alone without anyone to look after him, neighbors blew the whistle. Howling with saddness in that backyard may have been the smartest thing he ever did, because soon he was on his way to Best Friends, where this beauty finally has warmth, comfort and, most importantly, love.

Beau

Beauregard is his official name, and it sounds very official indeed. But he's such a goofy guy, that nobody can resist calling him Beau.
Beau was rescued from Hurricane Katrina. He's full of energy, and really lives life in the present. He especially enjoys playing ball and going for long walks. But he also has a quiet side.
Beau isn't perfect; he's been known to be nippy. He needs a dog savvy home who appreciates a loveable goofball, and is willing to work with him on his food guarding. But he's waited so patiently since the hurricane for someone to come along and claim him. Won't you give him a closer look?

Boo

He's too cute to be fierce! But don't tell Boo that; he likes to think he's a very tough dog. Except when he gets excited to see somebody he knows and loves. Then, he picks up a toy in his mouth, wiggles from end to end, and does a happy dance! Whoops - then he remembers he's a tough dog again. Boo has had trouble finding a home because he will growl and protect his possessions. But at Best Friends, he's living with some very unafraid caregivers who love him just the way he is, and his life is full of doggie friends, too.

Cinnamon Bear

Who could hurt a little teddy bear like him? It's hard to believe! But Cinnamon Bear was found lying in a gutter in Tampa, Florida. Somebody had wrapped three ropes around his neck so tightly that they had to be surgically removed. So sad! It was no wonder he was afraid of people when he arrived at Best Friends. But today at the sanctuary, he's getting braver every day. He's still not sure about new people, but the folks he sees regularly are now his friends, and he's shown them that this Cinnamon Bear knows how to cuddle!

Tweed

Are you an experienced dog person who's up for a project of love?
Tweed had some bad things happen to him. We know at one point, he had a broken leg because it's shorter than the others. We also know he survived Hurricane Katrina. He's still hurt, scared and healing from all the trauma he's experienced.
So it's no surprise that Tweed is scared of new people and will warn them to stay away. But he's coming around slowly. Today, Tweed is learning to make friends with people he's known for a while, and he can even walk on lead. And this just in: Tweed is now socialized enough to go to the dog park!
Tweed enjoys the company of the other dogs in his play area. They give him companionship and also confidence. When he's not playing with his friends, Tweed enjoys looking out at the world from on top of his doghouse.
All Tweed needs is time, patience and love in a forever adult home with other dogs for him to completely heal and learn to love.

I will be giving a 100$ sponsorship.

Please comment on who you think I should sponsor for January!

Boo, Cinnamon Bear & Tweed are all ridiculous :) and adorable :) I don't know, I'd probably go with Boo. I love old dogs.

It can be hard. So many who deserve some extra in their life, not enough money to give to them all though!
