Where (indoors) do you take your dog?

I just got back from a coffee shop. Bailey went with me as he has a few times before. I didn't bring him until I saw a couple of different dogs there (once when I knew the owner was there, lol) -- but, even so, I'm such a rule follower that I still get just a little anxious before we go in.

My friend in NYC takes her Weim everywhere. It's amazing to me that hair stylists, restaurants, high-end stores, etc. accept dogs!

I went from a major city to, more recently, a smaller one, and they're about the same -- dogs are okay at places like outdoor restaurants and bars, and I saw them occasionally in high-end stores (which really isn't my thing), but not all over the place. I'd love to bring him more places, but, again, I'm a rule follower and I don't want to be asked to leave. I guess I could call ahead!

So where does your dog go?

I've taken mine into Lowes, Home Depot, Tractor Supply, Sticks n' Stuff furniture store, and even into my son's school to pick him up. I didn't, until I saw someone walk in with a lab, and some others with small dogs they were carring. My Dobe didn't seem to bother anyone.

Petsmart and other like places (Petsmart, the local dog shop) is about the gist of it for Izzy. Apparently Nordstrom has an ok dog policy but I found that online so I take it with a grain of salt. I'd love to move to a more metro area that allows dogs everywhere. In defense of the town I live in, I haven't tried any cafes or coffee shops where I could sit outside. I Imagine she wouldn't be allowed in the shop so someone would have to order for me.

WOW, seriously? That's really cool!

This is the most dog friendly place I've ever seen, but I wouldn't dare take a dog in a store (other than pet stores, of course). I had no idea any place would let you!

There are a bunch of bars/restaurants/hotels here that let you bring your dog for happy hour on the patio, but for health reasons they can't have a dog inside (other than service dogs). A bunch of the stores in Old Town have water bowls outside, but I'd never take my dog inside them.

All the pet stores I go to, Finn comes along. There's am amazing small-business shopping district within walking distance that Finn and I often go to - there's WAG, a cafe/shop for pets, and a bunch of dog-friendly businesses. I can go check out guitars at the folklore centre while my cousin loves all over Finn, or go get a coffee and practice Finn's manners.

I take Sawyer to Lowe's/Home Depot, pet stores, and outdoor patios. I've taken him into Best Buy before but I asked for permission beforehand and it was near closing time so the store was pretty empty. He's gone into a couple of restaurants with me, but they were small, privately owned places, I asked for permission before hand and he laid under the booth the whole time and most people didn't know he was there.

Kenya goes everywhere. miami (especially the beach area) is incredibly dog friendly. shes gone to restaurants, cafes, stores, library etc... . I only take her to restaurants with outdoor/patio areas tho.

If your dog is under control and on leash here, then most store owners don't really care.
I always ask though, just in case lol

The local home depot put up a no dogs sign... Not that I ever saw many in there. I only take my kids to petsmart and other pet stores.

Wow, that's awesome about Miami. I do feel like there's a bit of a double standard with small and big dogs, so I'm glad Kenya could go too. :) I wish there were more places like that here. I may try to scope out some of the small, independent stores around here.

Btw, I keep reading that dogs are allowed in Home Depot and Loewe's, but I have never seen one. To be fair, I'm hardly a home improvement expert... Maybe we'll try that sometime.

Just pet stores here and other obvious dog friendly places 9such as training centers lol) there is a place down town Toronto that is made for dogs (and cats if you want to bring them too lol) with a coffe shop its called pawsway discovery center. learn all about dogs and cats. they have a small agility ring you can use for free.

he has gone to flea markets indoors. no where else really though. I would love to. And he would be 100% well behaved. we just dont have many places that Im aware of around here.

PetSmart, Petco and Red Roof Inn recently. What I like about Red Roof Inn is the no deposit and no extra charge for pets in the room rule. You have to declare your dog at check in so I took Lola inside the Lobby when I registered and they are even ok with that.

I have never seen dogs in Home Depot or Loewe's either. It maybe different to each areas? If I could take Palette to almost all place we go to,she would sure be coming with us.She loves ride.get excited and, never leave her eye off from car door:)

At this moment, she goes to petsmart, vet office, and if we go for grocery shopping and if she needs nail grinder to clip nail shorter than I can,we take her to grocery shopping and one of usstay in the car and the one with Palette take her walk around store parking lot etc to explore and we drop by nail grinder time at petsmart and off to home.

I have seen dogs sitting outside table at starbucks, but Palette has never been to starbucks. She loved sniffing the air outside Arby's when we stopped on way to our mother-in law house on christmas.

Pretty much anywhere (south florida). I've gotten my nails done or my hair done with a dog on my lap, and there's even a human waterpark that once a year has a doggy day where they open the park for dogs.

When I use to live in South Beach, its the most dog friendly place I've seen. Lincoln Road Mall is a big place to walk your dog and dogs are allowed in stores and most resturants (sp?) have doggy water dishes outside. Many of the store owners bring their dogs to work. I remember taking Princess with me to get my nails done and she got a doggy treat, her own chair, and they even had a water bowl for dogs.

There's a Mcdonalds store located there, that doesn't have a drive-thru, but has a doggy 'drive-thru' window for customers that have dogs. It was polar opposite of 'no dogs allowed'...people would try to order from there, because inside was pack, and I just thought it was too funny when the Mcdonald's employee told the people without dogs, that they only serve people who have dogs from this window :rofl1:

I think only in Miami, is it possible that my dog has been inside a club :p

I use to be a club promoter and my boss had a dog that looked like Princess, and would take her to have playdates with her dog at the club, and she would help me promote on the beach somedays or sometimes at night even along the walkside where the clubs would be.

The pictures below of Valentino & Princess on the beach are from South Beach.

Just pet stores usually, and the feed store as well. The Home Depot here must allow dogs..as I've seen a few inside, including a very cute large hound mix. I was also behind a woman in line who had a baby wallaby in a pouch around her neck...it was nibbling on a basil leaf.

Well, as my SD, Millie comes with me everywhere (libraries, malls, doctor's offices, drug stores, restaurants, etc., etc.) Lucy and Millie, when she's off duty (well, she's never really "off duty," she will always alert and listen to commands, I mean when we're in a dog friendly place and it's okay for her to relax a little from the public access and people can pet her) can go to Home Depot, Lowes, Petco/Petsmart, the feed store. . .and that's pretty much it for indoor places and companies. There are not a lot of dog friendly places here, really.

It used to only be the vets (pet shops are too much of a dog trap so I don't usually take him in)
But I've just movd to a really small village (think 600 people) and it turns out most places are pretty dog friendly.Like the post office for example.

Just pet stores. Haven't really considered that dogs might be allowed in other stores, truthfully I'm okay with that though because sometimes I NEED to get away from the beasts! :p And if I knew they were allowed where I was going, I'd feel guilty leaving them behind lol.
