Where do you throw out dog poop?

The poop eating dog thread got me thinking.

Where do you guys throw out dog poop that you pick up??

For us, we don't have a yard so poop is always picked up in bags. If we're at the park, it goes in the park trash but just walks around the neighbourhood leaves us nowhere to dispose of the poop!

I can put it in my own garbage but garbage is picked up once a week here and the garbage can is not allowed outside the property so it sits in the garage. The dog poop really makes the entire place stink. Our solution is basically to put the poop into a common poop bag by our front door outside and take that to the park garbage once every few days. So unbelievably troublesome and kind of gross..

How do you guys deal with dog poop??

When we lived in our rural apartment, I'd toss it into the woods. Gross, but no one walked through there and the alternative was a giant pain in the rear (treking down a lane to throw it into a dumpster - not so much fun doing that every time a dog poops.

Now that we have a house, we have a metal can on our back porch. The poop (and bagged kitty litter and guinea pig shavings) gets thrown in there. Then we take the bag out and throw it in our street garbage bin. As long as the lid is fitted properly, I don't notice any odor. Probably helps that we don't poop scoop but for once a week, so the poop is dried and dessicated when we put it in the can.

It pretty much always gets bagged and goes in a trashcan at our house. We have an old plastic kitchen trashcan with a bag that we set up right outside the side door just to throw poop. We pick it all up in baggies, even in our yard, because I hate having land mines of poop all over the place.

Most of our walks are on a trail behind our house, so poop from walks usually ends up thrown away at our house.

I have a small trashcan set on our front porch for poop bags from walks (lined with a trash bag). Otherwise, I scoop the backyard daily and put it in a metal trashcan (also lined with a bag).

When each of them get almost full, I put them out with the trash for the week, but I will only put full bags in our big trashcans the night before and no earlier. I don't want the large trashcan itself to smell.

We have a small plastic bucket with a lid tucked in the corner between our garage and house for bagged poop. It just gets dumped into the main bin as we wheel it out of the garage to the curb for pickup.

Well since the jerks bought the 12 acres next door to us and built 2 houses right up against our property and faced their picture windows toward my house. Literally their house is right against my small bottom pasture at the base of my driveway, I am considering dumping it just on the edge of that pasture. So it will be within 20' of their house. I despise small children, and they have one there and I have to listen to the thing screaming in the yard all the time. If they ever complain about my dogs, I will complain about the small child.

There's a small garbage can just on the side of the house (on Roxie's potty side) that I dump it in.

I guess some of you guys have the same problem as me! I really don't like having a bucket or bag of poop around all week long but there's really no good alternatives :(

At my parents house we throw it over the back fence into the wild field behind us.
The property owners are aware that we do this, but since they don't use that field at all, they don't mind.

At the apartment I walked it to the garbage can at the end of the street.

I have heard of people using this system: http://www.doggiedooley.com/
Or something similar (I think I've seen something similar for far cheaper).
It's basically an underground compost system.

In our last house, I dug a small hole, maybe 2x2x2feet and dumped it all in there, for 2 dogs+ some others in and out, for 5 years. It never overflowed :) just broke down to nothing really. It was in the back behind a shed, but we were out there a lot and never had a smell problem or anything really.

If you can have a septic system- dooleys work great. If you have clay pan .... ugh... not so much.

We just use the plain ol trash and paper bag- breaks down that way and less plastics. We no longer produce enough non veggie intended compost to put dog crap in.

I used to dump it in the woods, but since we decided to fence that in eventually, I had to change that.

For the last year or so I had a pile outside the fence that I limed periodically. It worked ok, but occasionally did get a bit smelly if the wind was blowing the wrong way. I did end up bagging it to throw it out completely and it WAS pretty well broken down.

I'm now using a large plastic trash bin lined with a yard and leaf bag to collect poops daily and then I dump it into the regular bin right before it goes to the curb. The poop bin is on the far side of the yard and lidded.

On walks at the park and stuff, in the trash cans. At home? I don't lol. We have so much land, he usually goes off near the woods anyway.

Public trash cans lol
I guess the perk of not having a yard is that bags/trash cans are readily freely available for such things

Occasionally dumpsters.

I walk him even though I have a yard, and throw it in a public can, unless he waits until we are past the last one, I have a tiny can outside my door in that case and line it with grocery bag I add to my household bag when it's picked up
