What's your strategy for walking multiple dogs?

How do you walk multiple dogs on flexis? :yikes: Every single time I ever have two dogs that both have flexi leads, I have to lock them up short or the dogs end up a tangled mess around each other and everything else.

Sometimes it isn't pretty but all dogs allowed to be on flexis have flexi manners. They know how to untangle themselves from around trees and posts. They do not just hit the end and stay there.

And then we wrap up our friends sometimes still.

I really don't walk multiple dogs together, but once a year or so... They walk in front on prongs, I hold all leashes in one hand so that I can use my other hand for my phone or whatever.

This, pretty much. Except Rage is the only one who needs a prong.

Mainly, Tyler and I walk them together so he takes panzer, or they are off leash, but if I am walking them together. They have separate leashes, which are usually held in one hand. I walk panzer in a prong. We walks amazing, but for my own safety I put a prong on him.

I don't like walking more than 2. Then I can have a dog on each side, a leash in each hand... easy.

I think I one time walked 3 (Juno, Happy, Lucy) and THEY were fine but I didn't like it. I didn't really know where I wanted the 3rd dog to be, it was awkward.

I used to walk 2 dogs one leash in each hand, I don't remember them tangling. I think one dog used to walk on each side.

I've also used a coupler but at the time since one dog was about 23 lbs, the other was only 7, the poor little one just had to walk where the bigger dog was going.

But no seriously, I really tend to not walk them all together. Or I use prong collars for management and/or grab an extra person. But usually, I just avoid having to walk dogs on leashes if at all possible.

I don't- I walk one dog and my mom or a friend walks the other. When I HAVE to hold both dogs though, I hold one leash in each hand!

I've also had the experience with walking two dogs at once where... one dog flips out at something he is fearful of, and it's contagious. The other dog starts flipping out too, even if she wasn't fearful to begin with. They affect each other's feelings easily (especially negative feelings)... being such sensitive dogs. I find it's just safer to walk them separately overall.

Sometimes boys in one hand girls in the other.
Sometimes small dogs in one hand big dogs in the other.
Sometimes however I happen to grab the leashes.

I walk the boys on their own separate leashes. I do use pinch collars when we walk since combined, Lars and Ocean outweigh me. The pinches give me power steering and brakes. (This is the only time they wear pinch collars.)

I couldn't imagine them attached to each other with a coupler. God, that would be like throwing two cats in a sack. They don't mind each other...but a coupler would put them in each others' personal space bubble.

Generally I don't, just don't feel it's a great idea in case a loose dog/dogs run up to me. Or SQUIRREL! On the few times I have I will take the girls together, Ripley wears a prong and goes on a short leash one one side, Jersey is walked normally on the other side, one leash per hand. I would like a belt or over the shoulder leash instead for Jersey, would make life a lot easier.

I don't tend to walk more than two at once because I don't like the idea of having more dogs than I have hands. When I do that, I have them on separate leads and, depending on the dogs, prong collars.

Generally, I just throw the leashes on and take them whatever way they end up. Sometimes 2 on one side and 2 on the other and sometimes all 4 in one hand. If I lived in a busier area I couldn't because I have to make them stop and sit, every time a dog goes by so they aren't all pulling towards it but usually it's fine.

If I'm walking them 2 on each side I usually have Fudge and Aura on my left and Scamp and Taz on the right. Also Fudge and Taz are always the outside dogs that are furthest away from me. The reasoning is that Aura and Scamp tend to have good leash manners and Fudge and Taz don't so it's almost like only walking 2. As well as that Aura can be reactive towards strange dogs so I like having Fudge as a buffer. Also if a loose dog starts to bother us (in a non aggressive way), I can just drop Taz's lead and walk away and he'll keep it distracted and then come back to me once I have everyone else sorted again.

Hey, I'm not the only one who doesn't do "pack walks"! When I've got a good group I'll put everyone of approximately the same size/power on one hand and let them braid. No way I can do that with the current pack, and if I let a stronger dog get tangled up in there they end up dragging all the littles.

Ru walked in tandem with our foster chihuahua that was just his size. The two of them made a perfect brace and could have walked on a coupler. Ru is oblivious to any other dogs walking with us though, and way too tiny to couple to a real dog.

Briz will walk nicely with dogs that have good leash manners. When I walk the two of them together it's one leash in each hand. I also occasionally do two flexis with them because Brisbane has flexi manners and Ru is of no consequence.

Ulysses doesn't exactly pull on the leash, but also moves in a very random and erratic fashion and doesn't quite get that he's walking with a group. Sometimes he's not even coordinated enough to get all of his own legs moving in sync.

Right now I don't usually take all three out. When I do, I usually have Brisbane on an over at her shoulder leash and Ru and Uly on separate hands. It's like herding cats, and drives Brisbane nuts.

I only have two so I just do one leash per hand, and thankfully they're both pretty good walkers so it's not that difficult. I still prefer walking each one separately though.

Put a collar/harness and a leash on them and walk? I never found walking multiple dogs all that challenging....even with the extreme puller and the one who once she walks a block spends most her time trying to escape to get back home. I don't do it too often though, as I admit it's irritating, but not challenging.

I don't. Lol! In fact, I don't walk my dogs at all.
