my personal feelings about intentilaly mixing breeds without thought (which while there are some good doodle breeders out there still adhering to the origional thought and attempted purpose of the breed) MOST "desighner" dogs are intentinal mixed breeds by byb's...
ive NEVER met a "well bred cocker-poo, or puggle, or Boggle (beagle x pug x boston) or Bug (pug x boston) ect...

but.
stickign to the oringal question...
around here the most frequent "reason" you hear to buying a doodle is "they are hypoalergenic and dont shed.."
unfortunatly there also a common listing on craigslist "supposed ot by hypoalergenic but my sons still having alergy issues" or "wasnt supposed to shed but does..."

Labradoodles were first bred to be guide dogs.... They got the non-shedding coat with the friendliness and "work ethic" of a lab. It's harder to find a poodle with the right temperment to be an assistance dog, they tend to be a little too aloof, not friendly enough in public.
I agree with that but some of the crosses are just weird for example a corkie (no offense to anyone who owns one). People are paying a fortune for something like that and personally i would prefer a purebred or an accidental mix. the only time i would pay for a mixed breed would be to get it from a shelter

I see A LOT of those 2.
"Need to rehome my labradoodle.. I paid a lot of money because they said he wouldn't shed and I wouldn't be allergic to him. He does shed a lot and im very allergic!"

OMG I see that so often on adds on Kijiji or the paper it really is sad. I have googled Labradoodle breeders and I cannot believe how much they want for a mutt. I personally think it is crazy. Thats just me though. I met my first minature Labradoodle the other day at the dog park. She was the sweetest thing had curly hair, didnt shed she was quiet and kind,But she looked really well bred but I have also seen other ones there too that shed like crazy and look weird. I think its a toss up when going for a Labradoodle.

the boggle is supposed to be boston X beagle. while i wouldn't go out of my way to get one, if i saw one at the pound forless than $50 & i was shopping for another dog(s). i'd give it a shot as hogdog/bushing dog/general trouble maker. it's already close to a cross i'd like to try (fox/deer beagle over staffy bull or small pit).

I will admit the poorly bred one around here is not very attractive. He seems to have gotten a very uneven/wiry coat that you don't see in the multigeneration ones. He's just very very scruffy looking.
THIS is the kind of labradoodle you see in my area. The Truly NOT easy on the eyes ones. I've seen plenty labradoodle via the internet that are cute, adorable and look very loveable. Though, goldendoodles still have win the cuteness factor over labradoodles. Something about the coat that some labradoodles have.. ick.

I've seen some really cute ones...however they aren't for me. Too many grooming concerns (like being clipped) and I'm cheap.

Take in mind that they are all very poorly bred around here. The ones I have seen around here ARE ugly, especially the first one I ever saw. Course, that was several years ago.

Nothing wrong with having an opinion. I personally believe Brussel Griffons are ugly, "puggles" too... they just don't appeal to me.

Geeze Tessa, only one dog left in my home that you haven't called UGLY!!!:yikes:

I don't care what breed or mix you're talking about, being offensive is just plain uncalled for.

My UGLY Brussels -

My UGLY Labradoodle -

And to really make your stomach turn (BETTER GRAB A BUCKET!!!)- here they are trying to figure out which one's UGLIER!!!!! :rofl1:

I hope that when your baby is born Tessa, people are a little kinder with their comments towards you and yours. We all tend to be a bit protective of the ones that we love...even if a little biased.;)

Totally random, but I LOVE LOVE LOVE that 2nd picture <3 are they always that cuddly with eachother?

And yes, I agree with you. I dont think its OK to call an entire breed of dog "ugly". I have breeds I like, breeds that I dont.. but none would I call "ugly".. kinda mean to those who have them.

does he have a mohawk in that last picture?? :rofl1: I WANT ONE!! lol :D

Thanks, and that was my point. There are breeds coming through my classes all the time that just aren't what I would consider 'the dog for me', but would I ever call them UGLY?? It's just a really insensitive thing to say about a breed that SOMEONE loves.
Every dog is beautiful to somebody....I've not met one that I can't find something beautiful about.

Yes, Amos and Lola are always joined at the hip. They're truely IN LOVE.:D

Except when Sophie enters the room, then Amos drops Lola like she's hot and works his charms on the REAL girl of his dreams.....

Amos is getting his MOHAWK redone on Tuesday next week. I'll post pictures...it's gonna be WAY COOLER than the light green doo he was sporting in that shot.:p

Honestly while I would never own a labradoodle, I do think the WELL BRED ones are adorable. Especially the "miniatures".

However i think they look better with a clean face. My boss groomed a chocolate mini the other day and shaved his face and OMIGAWD i melted from the cute. Best haircut ever for a doodle. Or any bearded breed .. LOL *IMHO*

I agree... at least half of the Labradoodles I meet have a coat that is nothing like a Poodle's. It is wavy and coarse to the touch, and sheds HEAVILY! I met two Labradoodles the other day who were surprisingly friendly/outgoing but left black hairs all over my clothes. Like, worse than my double-coated dogs.

I wouldn't say they aren't totally easy on the eyes. The fluffy ones are usually quite cute (in a muttly way) and the coarser coated ones remind me a bit of a Spinone Italiano, which is a breed that I love. However, I meet far more flighty, submissive, temperamental Labradoodles than I do friendly and well-adjusted. There was a Labradoodle PUPPY in Fozzie's puppy class, who had been bought from a breeder for $1000's as a hypoallergenic guide dog for the lady's austistic child, and that puppy wouldn't allow a person near her, nor another puppy. She would just shrink in fear. It was very upsetting to watch, as there was no way a dog like that could be a stable guide dog.

OMG. You are so right!!!

There's a Boggle that comes into day camp regularly, appropriately named Malarkey, who is a little HELLION! He will hang off of a Rottie's face and send them running in fear/embarassment. D: Not a dog that I would like to own, but I'm sure there is never ever a dull moment in his home.

I dont understand the attraction to alot of breeds. to each his own as they say. But I agree majority of these mixes I have met, and it is a TON since I work in grooming. Have all ben off the wall crazy hyper. Seems to me majority of people own then as a symbol, rather then becuase they like the mix. no training ect. one lady came in the other dya with ehr 5 year old lab poodle X. And said she couldnt believe he was still so badly behaved, even after a neuter. My boss had a speaking with her. since she i s a trainer as well.
:wall:

Found this thread interesting. Those that are trainers and breeders do you think its the mix that makes the dogs wild or just the fact that person did not spend time training it like the one Tankstar mentioned here, belonging to a TRAINER that didnt bother to train their dog? YIKES!

I am not fond of the "Designer breeds" as I see them as mixes that for many instances were bred to be sold as purebreds.

I object more to the individual behind the price tag in most cases breeding "Designer breeds" for their price tag rather then the lines and resultant pups. I am not disliking the individuals or because of their activity level, the latter, I tend to bring that out in dogs that were trained to behave :rofl1: Just the doggy smile I guess that comes on my face when I see a dog, ANY dog!
I would be happy as a clam with a heinz 57 from a shelter.

Those with either of the doodles, if NOT clipped how long would their coat grow, out of curiosity.
I am least fond of English bulldog faces as find the nose too extreme (not real fond of persian cats for that reason either) but if ever saw one on the street, it would be remaining on the street just long enough for me to stride over and rescue it. :)
I prefer Boxers and American bull dogs and Staffy Pittie types nose wise.(as compared to English type Bull dogs. ) Love Bull Terriers too and I know many have choice words to describe their eggheads :lol-sign:
Have had good luck to meet many on the board here from when Dekka was having her pups.
Its easier to say type of breeds I care for less due to a trait as majority of breeds I love, when and if get a pup I would just want a breed that did not need to go to the groomers for sculpting type cuts every 8-12 weeks or so, as would want to do grooming myself. Not grooming or shedding shy at all, tho not sure about clipping... love long hair shaggy types. ( along with short hair, big dogs small dogs and everything in between.) Love Brussels Dr2, love Pappillion, JRT, Border terriers, Basenji, and of course love Cavaliers, ok, quitting now tho could easily add other breeds I love. (how many breeds are there in the AKC UKC combined? )

Honest question
And just how can there be "well-bred" ones? I doubt each Lab and Golden before they came together came from health tested parents from generations of longevity and titles and careful breeding programs.
