I wasn't planning on creating another thread about this, but there are just way too many people who I wanted to PM... and this was way easier.

Dizzy had mentioned sending the realtor an email and asking what the kennel was used for... so I did just that.

Here's the email I received a few minutes ago:

"Jessie, The kennel was used as a breeding operation."

Yup, exactly what I was expecting to hear. Boarding kennels just aren't set up like that.

Then why were you arguing that it could have been a boarding facility?

I wasn't.

What I said, many times was, why does it have to be a "puppy mill" just because the way it was set up and how many dogs it could have. That why couldn't it become something else or have been something else. A "breeding operation" does not always mean that the operation was run in abhorrent conditions i.e. a "puppymill" or in my opinion a bad kennel period. Breeding dogs in large numbers is not illegal, it is not "wrong" having a large number does not make one a puppymill, there are many top breeders/handlers that have a very large number of dogs on their place and when you combine their client dogs, with breeding program dogs, and boarders and groomers it can be huge.
It could have been or could be owned by a handler, a top BIS breeder of some breed, you never know (some one suggested even a rescue). It's empty and therefor it could become what ever some one wanted it to be.
If it were used or purchased by a less than ethical breeder who did not take care of their dogs then at that time it could be tagged a "mill"...but how can you call it that when it stands empty and unoccupied with open potential to become what ever you could imagine?

I think we all knew it was. And who ever didnt think it was, was honestly blind. I do hope it gets fixed up for a rescue or boarding kennel (new cages and such), But I really hope it doesnt go back to being a puppy mill. I wish it was out here, for that price me and the boyfriend could buy it. And I could open up my dream of a boarding/rescue kennel...one day.

You can be a "top BIS breder" and still not be ethical or respectable.

FrenchKissed i disagree with every reason you have stated. I disagree with why you find that adaquate housing for anything. i worked for three kennels growing up and through my 20's one was a training, one was boarding for the show circuit, and finally one was a training and renting facility for guard dogs. Even the last one, a doggy hell hole didn't stoop as low as that picture of those runs. THere is no way to clean, it blows my mind how you could think any creature should be housed in that.

That puppymill person i had my one man protest against tried to tell me she wasn't a puppymill. She had 5 different breeds, 6 weeks old in a wire pen on the side of a road. Probably came from a place exactly like this. I didn't pick one up to look at the pads, i should have, i just ran home made a sign and got the heck back there to show how i felt about what she is doing. Breeding dogs like that is a crime against their very nature. Housing them like that should be criminal.
