This guy is driving me crazy. It started back in August. He called a few times and left me messages. They're all almost the same.

"Hi Tammy this is Shawn from Guaranteed Pest Services. I was wondering when you would like us to come by a spray your lawn...."

I answered one day and said "This is NOT Tammy. Wrong number, please do not call again."

It stopped a few weeks. Then again "Hi Tammy this is Shawn..."

It's freaking February and he's called twice this week! I have answered numerous times explaining it's the wrong number. And heck even if I WAS Tammy by this point wouldn't it be obvious I don't want to do business with them anymore? Some weeks he calls 5 times a week. Most the time it's during class so I can't answer and chew him out.

What do I do? I'm really getting ticked off.

call your phone company and have the number blocked.. thats what I had to do with some insurance company that kept calling! once your number is on that list it just keeps getting recycled..

Can you find Guaranteed Pest Services in the phone book? Maybe call them directly and tell them they've got the wrong number and you aren't interested in their services, and they need to stop calling you. It might even be phone harassment and you could potentially file a police report against them depending on your local laws.

I believe that if you have told them to put you on their "do not call list" and they persist in calling, you can sue them. If nothing else, contact your state Attorney General and file a complaint. I have done that in PA from an online form when I kept getting calls from a collections agency looking for people that didn't live there. I told them repeatedly that they do not live at this number and to put the number on their do not call list but I got four more calls after that. I made the online report to the AG and within a week I got a letter from the AG and a letter of apology from the collections agency.

Eddie, that's a collections thing, they are not permitted to harass you if you write them a letter and tell them to stop, if they don't then, you can sue them.
As for telemarketers and such, there's not much you can really do, other than call the company, tell them to put your number on the DO NOT CALL list, and inform them if they persist you'll be contacting local law enforcement for telephone harassment.

I used to work collections, asking us to stop doesn't do anything (unless you specify it is a work number and you are not permitted personal calls at your work), writing a formal letter requires us to stop collection efforts.

Hmmm writing a formal letter sounds like a good idea. I can find them online pretty easily by just typing in Guaranteed Pest Services and my home town.

There's some info on the subject. I know that having an unlisted phone number definitely cut down on the number of those kinds of calls. I never have bothered to get on a list. But I think I told someone a long time ago to not call again. And they stopped. Good luck. There is nothing more annoying.

How do you like those ones that, when you pick up the phone, there's a long pause. Then a computer generated voice starts in on the speel? Or those people who you can't understand a word that comes out of their mouth. It's like they have a shovel load of Cream of Wheat in their mouth....or peanut butter. LOL. Yesterday, I was dead tired and was having a nice little nap and the phone rang. I answered and the person on the other end apparently was doing some survey. They did not pause in their yammering to even catch a breath. I couldn't get a word in edge-wise to even try to be polite and say that I didn't have time now. So, I just hung up. I rarely do that to people. But I did and it felt good. It is so annoying....especially when you're outside doing yard work and you race in to get the phone and it's no one you want to talk to, but someone trying to sell you something.

I bet it's a big pet peeve for most people. Wouldn't it be fun to have some kind of system where, if solicitors call your number, they get automatically charged for it? Like a lot? It would be taken right out of their account and put into yours. :lol-sign:

And then...there's the junk mail that fills up your mail box and your garbage. I always want to collect a whole bunch from each company that sends it and then send it all back to them in one BIG package. (Only....I never do) LOL.

That's a great idea, I hate junk mail - I'm going to do just that.

Well, at least they aren't engaging in false advertising with the company name. Guaranteed Pests indeed.

Oh, and you could leave a message on your voice mail saying something like, "If this is Shawn from Guaranteed Pest Services, stop calling me. I'm not Tammy and I'm not interested in your services."

You might also be able to make a report with the Better Business Bureau?

I think I'd personally start by making a complaint with the company and see if that fixes the problem. :(

I did this. Only it was a regular person that kept calling me and leaving me messages while I was at work. So I changed my voice mail to say "Hi this is Caitlin and if your name is Pam I am NOT your daughter and I don't have any kids so you need to stop calling me and leaving me messages. Everyone else please disregard." It worked great until I forgot about it and then my family started leaving me messages saying they were Pam and asking me about my kids.

For the record I only did this after the third time I called her and told her I wasn't who she thought I was and to please delete my number. I'm not a jerk right off the bat....most of the time. ;)

next time he calls... get a whistle answer the phone and blow it really loud and then tell him to stop calling ;) repeat as often as nessecary

if that doesn't work I wonder if you could contact the non emergency police number to report harrassment. I know I was in contact with the police once because this guy kept calling me and harassing me
