What pet vacuum do you have?

We have had our Dyson for a year and it is amazing. When we first got it at the apartment it was still picking stuff up on the 8th and 9th pass overs. Eventually it was picking up red human hair...and we all have black hair!! ewwies!! lol.

The carpet was whitish grey when we got done, instead of a slate color. Yeah...

Anyway, we have the orange ball style. The purple animal styled ball one is identical, it just comes with a special pet hair hose attachment. Robert didn't think the purple one was manly enough for him, so he got the orange one on sale and bought the attachment separately.

We love it. It's amazing and I will never get a different kind of vacuum after this.

I have a dyson, that I got at Macy's on super super clearance. I think it's the DC14, and I got it for $150ish! I'll second the people who said that the animal one is the same as the other model with a couple extra attachments--wasn't worth the price to me, though the purple is pretty! Anyway, if you aren't picky about the type of dyson, you should be able to find a good deal on one pretty easily.

LOVE the vacuum. It's maneuverable, has great suction, and it's so darn satisfying to dump out all the gunk. Much lighter weight than my old vacuum too.

I know I'm not really active here, but my vacuum just broke and now I'm at loss as to what I should buy! I can't decide if I should go for the really expensive one with a 5-year warranty, or a cheap one that will last a year or two!

What vacuum's do you guys have? How long have you had it for? What would you recommend?

I'd love the new Dyson DC25 Animal vac, but I'm not sure I want to spend the almost $600 on it. Does anyone have it? Is it worth it?

It will be worth it. Get the Dyson. It's a much better investment, IMO. I have a DC17 Animal, and it's amazing. I don't know what I would do without it. When I use other peoples' crappy vacuums now, I just find it frustrating because they don't get stuff clean.

I just got an Roomba pet series for Christmas and am very impressed with it so far. 'Andy' does a great job for everyday cleaning. We have a Eureka vacuum for those big, deep cleans and as long as we keep the filters clean we have had no issues with it either.

I'd love a Kirby, my mom has one and says she never used it.. To heavy/too big of a house. But I don't have stairs or anything and I'd love to have it.. So I'll have to talk to her, maybe I can get her to send it to me somehow!

Otherwise, I'm definitely going for a Dyson, but probably not the pet vac. I think I'll get a cheaper one, and later get the attachments because honestly, I never used the attachments when I had them except on my couch, and now I just use a lint roller and its fine, LOL!

My parents had a Kirby that lasted through three kids and a dog for...oh geez...I think they bought that thing when I was like 7 and it lasted until well after I went to college. I think the only thing that made them change was that it was getting really hard to find the bags anywhere near us. It was a very tough machine though!

I *wish* I had a Dyson...JJ keeps insisting that his POS Hoover he got as a hand-me-down works just fine, but it drives me insane. I *know* how much it's missing. I've used someone else's Dyson when petsitting and they've got four dogs and a cat and their carpets are CLEAN. It's an amazing thing...though I was a little disappointed with it's performance on hardwood. Then it seemed like it just kicked the dirt out the back of the brush. But on carpet, it's ridiculously awesome.

I guess I have to give up and get a dyson I have one now that I would say sucks but it doesn't. And the other one shuts off after two minutes because it overheats. I went shopping with my mom after xmas and she made me feel like an idiot for wanting to spend so much on a vacuum but I am sick of the crappy ones!

My old man is one of those "cheap" vacuum people.... If I add up all the $ he's spend on vacuums in the amount of time I've had my dyson.... I'd say we're about even. Except I have clean carpets, no headaches, and only had to go the store once. :rofl1:

I had my Bissell one for less than a year, and it's dying on me already.
I paid $100+ for it.

I used to sell Kirbys... LOVED them.

Unfortunately Dyson came along and stomped on their performance.

I'm pretty sure I know the Dyson you refer to Steph You must have overlooked the button to turn off the brushes and just use the suction on the hardwood

We picked ours up refurbished on @ woot.com for $250 (that deal comes along about once every 5 months though

Dyson Animal Ball. The first time I used it over and over, then started pulling hair out of the carpet that was a different color than any person or animal in the house. I was sold.

It still runs great, I clean the filters every couple of months and it's golden.
