What pet vacuum do you have?

I know I'm not really active here, but my vacuum just broke and now I'm at loss as to what I should buy! I can't decide if I should go for the really expensive one with a 5-year warranty, or a cheap one that will last a year or two!

What vacuum's do you guys have? How long have you had it for? What would you recommend?

I'd love the new Dyson DC25 Animal vac, but I'm not sure I want to spend the almost $600 on it. Does anyone have it? Is it worth it?

I have the bissel one made just for pets...its bagless...which I like, BUT it gets clogged every 3 or so month and there are gobs of filters to clean and tubes to unclog. Iam happy with the suction, but my OLD panasonic is way better when it comes to using attachments...the bissels hose is cumbersome and has poor suction.

so yeah, its not bad, but I wont recommend it

I have the Dyson. Not the animal vac. I love it. I also use a Roomba and a Scooba. For easy cleaning.

My dogs don't shed so much so that works for me. I've heard good things about the animal vac though.

I have the older dyson animal vac.... the purple one....

Anyway, I absolutely LOVE it!!!! It picks up corgi hair like a charm. lol.

I've sucked up all kinds of junk with no clogging.... and it's bagless, which I love.

The one annoying thing is that in order to use the attachments you have to unwrap the ENTIRE cord! ...... then of course, it's expensive which sucks.

I've had it since.... '06 maybe. It still works great, and I still love it.

I've had it for 2 years. No repairs or any issues with it at all. I also absolutely love that it is bagless.

I haven't really noticed using the attachments to be a pain either. I do live in a one story, so I haven't had to deal with stairs.

I am embarrassed to admit that I bought a Kirby in a very weak moment 2 years ago . At 75 I had never bought a new vacuum ~ was given a Bissel by my in laws in '52 and since then took over hand me downs or those bought at Goodwill or auctions . WAY too expensive ,but even if passed on to my kids lifetime guarantee . The attachments that came with it sold me ..... carpet cleaner plus I can reach walls , ceilings etc . The spinning brush attachment is great on the couches etc . Plus the small nozzle for corners . It's a Godsend for me , and it beats cleaning service and carpet cleaners .

I have the older Dyson Animal too. I absolutely love it, and it's been worth every cent we spent on it. No repairs needed in all this time, although lately it is starting to make a little bit of a rattling noise. I'm sure if I take it apart to clean the whole thing out properly the rattle will go away.

I have one of the older Dysons too... it says DC07 on it. I love it. My parents actually had one and it worked amazing which is why I bought one. I also got a bangin' deal on it at Target and it's pink, LOL. It works amazing. At one point we had three shelties living in this house and it's never let me down.
The one bad thing is that it's a bit heavy if you have stairs in your house. =P

We have a Kirby too and despite it being a bagged vacuum and somewhat heavy, we wouldn't trade it for the world right now and will drive it till it dies! Mum originally got a Kirby passed down to her from her grandmother that was originally bought in the 60s/70s and then in the 90s she got a free one from a Kirby door to door salesman who saw the old Kirby and was impressed. We've had only one repair and that was from my brother sucking up too many pennies and cracking the fan blade.

Our next one likely will be a Dyson, but probably when i move out coz mom will not part with her Kirby so i'll probably get a dyson for myself... Pugs require a very good vacuum.

I have the Kenmore Progressive 36932. I reeeeeeallly wanted a Dyson but my husband was against me even spending the $300 on the Kenmore so I settled. But, my mom and my sister have Dysons (the purple ones?) and they swear by them. I think my mom has had hers for three or four years and my sister for two with no repairs on either. The only reason I settled for the Kenmore is because it was rated one of the best by Consumer Reports. In my opinion it works as well as the Dyson and it was 1/2 the cost. link

I bought the Dyson dc25 (yellow one). I got it on sale at Target. It's not the animal one but when I called the 800# to find out the difference between this and the animal one, the Dyson rep told me the animal one comes with the attachment to do furniture. she told me I could always but the part later if I needed it.

It really works great. I got tired of all the other brands breaking down after a year or so.

I have a Bissell, and it doesn't work so well for my husky's fur.

But my mom has had a Kirby, and when I stayed with her, I was SOLD.

But at, what, $1500, I cannot convince Ben to buy one.
It'd be worth EVERY SINGLE penny, though.

I also have the Dyson DC25 animal and I love it. My carpets looked completely different after using it for the first time! I also have the handheld Dyson Animal to use on our stairs and it's great too!

Mine wasn't that pricey ..... yes it is heavy when lifting . but I don't have stairs and it's very light to push .
